I use something similar to this:

I leave the cards (sleeved) in it and it sits on top of my shelving.

I've seen some pretty good home made organisers on BGG which I'm tempted to try making because they're smaller.

I did some searching and found the actual one I use:

It has dimensions, and if it helps it holds all of the cards from an Outlaw pledge without any issues. Only having to move the tray to the table helps with setup time too.

I've not taken it out of the house, I wouldn't have thought it is sturdy enough for transporting cards like that. It holds up well enough to move around the home fully loaded with cards though.
