Ok so I am off to Da Boyz GT today. I just finished decaling my final models last night when I realized I was out of Mat Spray Vanish (Testors). My buddy was coming over and I asked him to bring a can he had.

When he arrives I spray all my models only to realize a few moments later that it was GLOSS varnish! Uggggg


The real question is can I safely spray a layer of Mat varnish over the now glossy varnished models without ruining them?

I was going to get another can of Testors Mat.

Help! I am in a super time crunch...

Yes, spraying matte varnish over gloss should give the model a matte finish.

No. I regularly do a coat of gloss before coating with the more expensive testors dull coat.

Also build up several thin coats rather than trying to convert it from gloss to matte in one go. Too much matte varnish in one hit increases the chances of frosting.
