They fight everywhere, but, due to their own unique brand of suffering, they specialize in fighting in truly horrible conditions. So, I could very easily see them fighting on a planet that is experiencing a nuclear winter.

The Death Korps are special because they're literally deployed to the hellholes of the galaxy in order to either grind an enemy halt to a standstill, or to push them back through sheer force of numbers. They'll be found everywhere anyhow, so yes, snow would be fine.
