I get he's supposed to be this hardcore fighter and General Badass. However, I don't see any point of this rule. Has anyone come across a situation or can even make up one where this rule would come in? Striking straight up with Claws or the Fists simply makes more sense compared to other models with this rule.

Perhaps you want to strike at initiative to deal with a challenge before dealing with a less well equipped unit with multiple wounds?
But your right, neither of his weapons have any special rules (like Horus' worldbreaker and claw) that would make you want to split the attacks.

Yeah, it is one of those rules that is tacked on for flavor but in reality doesn't actually do anything.
