The idea is pretty simple use the Devestators and Tac Marines in Razorback as fire support and Objective Campers. Melta Tacs and Assault Squads drop turn 1 to hit mech and units in cover. The Captain and Chaplain join the terminator squad and will deep strike, while the Sternguard will Pod in to start killing stuff after transports have been cracked. I am taking Imperial fists chapter tactics

Overall I think it works well. It is a bit light on things to threaten air and heavy armor, however with Tank Hunters on the Devestators and a couple of twin linked Lascannons to back up the first strike Meltas it should be able to do OK.

I have debated about dropping the Terminators and changing the Captain and Chaplain Loadouts and using those points for additional Sternguard and other upgrades. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

First, Welcome to Dakka.

I think your tacs could use a little more support. I know it’s a full company list, and points are tight, but a single meltagun is never going to do anything reliably. Combis on the sarges would be nice. Or just take all those points from the tacs and give your sternguard some combis. They at least will get the fire density to get the job done.

You have devs, you have pods, you have a CTDA captain; might as well roll with the shenanigans. He’s S&P, which confers to the unit. So put the devs in a pods and give them grav cannons if you have points, MMs if you don’t. Land and vaporize something.

I might just run the chaplain naked in an assault squad. But with the terminators isn’t a horrible choice.

While I do like the assaults kitted out like that, you might need more points sunk into AV fire in this list. I might scrap the sarg’s upgrades and just run them like a 2xflamer tac squad. Don’t try to assault anything, just burn.

Any points you can scavenge can be used to bump up razors to real guns. While I’m a fan of the HB, you need more serious dakka in this list, especially at 2k points.

Thanks alot for the welcome and the advice. I didn't know about the S&P rule conferring to the squad. Here the updated list.

Captain goes with the Grav Devs, Chaplain with the 9x Sternguard squad to soak wounds and provide a bit of melee in case they need it. A lot of Lascannons and and Plasma from the Razorbacks. Overall I think it works a lot better against armor and MC, while retaining its ability to deal with larger numbers of models. My biggest concern are armies like eldar and tau that can either straight up out shoot me, or that have sustained mobility. I could still drop the terminators for another squad of Sternguard or even some Vanguard Vets to help with that?
