So, I plan to use an Aquila Strongpoint in a coming tourney with my Tau army (I don't have any other D-weapon model and the tourney will sport super-heavies). I intend to put a Commander with EWO (toggle Interceptor) inside it to fire the Macro-cannon. However, can I do it?

Text from Interceptor:
At the end of the enemy Movement phase, a weapon with the Interceptor special rule can be fired at any one unit that has arrived from Reserve within its range and line of sight. If this rule is used, the weapon cannot be fired in the next turn, but the firing model can shoot a different weapon if it has one.

Text from EWO:
All weapons on a model with an early warning override have the Interceptor special rule.

Am I able to fire such weapon using the Interceptor rule? Couldn't find anything about it in either FAQ.

Is the Macro-cannon a weapon on the model and does the model fire the weapon, or do you (the player) use the model's BS to fire the weapon?

If both of the former are true, EWO would apply. If it is instead the latter, or a more limited form of the former (i.e. the Macro-cannon may be a weapon of the model, but only during the shooting phase), then EWO would not apply.

As EWO states that the weapon must be "ON" the model to use Intercept, I'd be inclined to say NO.
The Commander can fire the Macro-Canon if in base contact with it, but that does not make it count as being "on" the commander, thus would not be a valid weapon choice for EWO.

Anyone have the brb and able to quote using gun emplacements? How is the gun emplacement counted there?

Well, the Macro-cannon is an emplaced weapon. This is the text about emplaced weapons in the Rulebook:

Manual Fire
If a building is occupied, an embarked model can choose to fire one of the emplaced weapons. If the building has more than one emplaced weapon, each can be fired by a different embarked model. An emplaced weapon may not be fired by more than one model each Shooting phase. A model cannot manually fire an emplaced weapon and fire out of a Fire Point with its own
weapons in the same turn. If an occupying unit fires at a target, all emplaced weapons being manually fired must be shot at the same target.
Use the firing model’s Ballistic Skill and the line of sight of the weapon. All relevant special rules from the firing model and the weapon are used.

The bolded part is what makes me think I could use Interceptor with the macro-cannon, but the "ON" in the EWO makes a compelling case for not...

Maybe time for velocity tracker. selective skyfire d weapon, not as good, but potentially devastating.

Well you can intercept with your two regular weapons and fire the gun emplacement in the shooting phase at the very least.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

While emplaced weapons says, "All relevant special rules from the firing model and the weapon are used", the rule in question still requires the weapon to be "on" the model, so yeah I'd say not.

Ok, fair point. Time to change strategy...
