Hi Dakka,
So I have a very specific fascination with the early history of 40k. Things like the dark age of technology, age of strife, unification wars, etc. I'm looking for any and all resources on these time periods. Wiki pages, books, anything.
Cheers in advance,
Sparks.

Your best bet is probably just to start with the Horus Heresy Book Series and the Beast Arises Book Series.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised. |

You get snippets here and there for the most part. But pointing out a paragraph, out of every 400 pages, of every third book. Is a bit of a chore.
I guess the last church has been the longest thing written on the unification wars.

Dan Abnetts "First and only", the first (tanith first and only) Commisar Gaunts book has quite a bit concerning the men of Iron, as well as STC:s in it.
I'd also suggest going through old rulebooks, particularily 2nd ed and 3rd ed.
Other then Lexicanum that Psienesis suggested there's: http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Warhammer_40k_Wiki

His pattern of returning alive after being declared dead occurred often enough during Cain's career that the Munitorum made a special ruling that Ciaphas Cain is to never be considered dead, despite evidence to the contrary. |

I'd prefer unification era fiction to HH myself. Can't have it all.
