Long Beach, CA

Hello forum.

I'm a hobbyist at heart, looking for a bit of a play group in the southern California OC/LA/Long Beach area.

I'm at least passingly familiar with most of the LGS in the area and there are some good scenes on weeknights or on Saturdays, which is nice.... but ideally I'd like to meet more of a group around my age, late 20's, 30's-40's or so, interested in setting up hobby/game days that are a bit more conducive to family and work life. Maybe host at home on rotating Sundays once or twice a month or something like that.

Honestly though I will take what I can get at this point, because I'm just itching to get a bit more time in actually playing with some of the models I painted up.

I'm a huge fan of Malifaux, and I am actually enjoying Age of Sigmar as well although it clearly has some maturing to do. I'm just starting out in Guild Ball, and that seems like it will be a good bit of fun. I would absolutely, positively love to get into Mantic Kings of War, but it seems pretty difficult to find anyone around here that shares that interest. I also would get into Warmachine to some degree, and I would love to at some point try out Bolt Action & Konflikt '47.

I'm not super into the art style of Infinity, although I could certainly take a turn at that if it was part of a group I find. I'm also not really into X-Wing at this point, but again the group is more important and at the end of the day I'm happy to rotate games.

I am not inflicted with a burdening desire to win. I would much rather have fun, laugh, and play multiple games in an evening than struggle through a mind-bending deep dive on how to best min/max a given ruleset.

That being said, and this being a forum... maybe I'll at least just find some interesting posts or info here. Thanks for reading, and please feel free to reach out if you know of or are part of a gaming group in this area that seems like a good fit for me.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka
