ive added two to my slowly growing chaos war-band am am not sure how to use them, as well as am unsure about certain rules like how the strength D weapons function :(
i also am wondering if i am in +5 cover with the ion shield facing in the same direction do i get two chances if i fail one or is it a hit if i fail one save?

also for my load outs i have
Queen: chainsword and thunderstrike gauntlet, melta gun, and twin Icarus autocannons
old king: rapidfire battlecannon and avenger Gatling cannon, heavy stubber, and storm-sphere rocket pod

i'm not sure how to use them effectively and how the weapons function like can i target multiple targets with different weapons? if i target one with two different weapons and the first weapon kills can i still target other units and do i have to decide all targets before any roles? im still pretty new to playing ive spent more time painting than playing really..

With saves you pick your best (applicable) save and use only that. If you have a 5+ cover save and the 4+ invulnerable you'd take the invulnerable save. Same with an infantry model with, for example, a 3+ save and 5+ invulnerable. You'd only use the 5+ invulnerable if a weapon negates your 3+ armour save

Yea a superheavy can split fire. You can shoot the battlecannon (both shots at the same target) at one unit then shoot the gatling cannon at another, and the other weapon at something else.

I don't think you have to declare which targets your respective weapons are shooting at before shooting your first weapon. Shoot the battle cannon shots at something, and then if there are models remaining and you want to shoot the gatling cannon at that unit you can do that. Or shoot the gatling cannon at something else

With strength D the difference is instead of rolling to wound or penetrate armour you use the D weapon table depending on the type of target you're attacking (vehicle or infantry etc.)

When I was new to the game I'd just continually read over sections of the rule book I'd already read before. It seemed like I'd learn something new every time I picked that book up

When shooting super heavies you have to declare what each of your weapons shoots at before firing the first weapon. If I could shoot them out of sequence I could shoot my battle cannon at a rhino then the gatler at the contents which is not permitted. You must declare each weapon then fire one at a time at the targets you selected.

Ah, that's very helpful thank you. What would you sugest as a third knights loudout so I couldn't get the fallen house rule? I was considering duel thermal cannons if codex allows so it can target heavy armor and no top weapon so I can builds a mini stage for a noise marine guitarist like the guy from the new mad max 0u0 shiny and purple

I'd want at least one knight with a D saw just in case. Either Warden style or Paladen are my go to. Then the other ones can be double gatler or crusader.

I have two knights, Double tap Battle cannon with claw and flak on top. The other Chain, gattling cannon and missle pod ontop.
Your ranged one is pretty great at everything, other than being a points sink, you can't go wrong with even taking a second.

I've never taken more than one in a game, but as others said, declare your shots and then fire. I have made several lists with three knights but take this with a grain of salt cause I've never used them (I'm trying not to be a dick in my game group by taking 3 Lords of war).

I generally focus my force on being one of the other. Give all of them chainswords, plus battle cannon or gattling, with missles or autocannons, or go pure range, each with double tapping battle cannons and avenger with misslepods or autocannons. I always take at least one skyfire autocannon, usually two in the lists in case of flyers, plus, they can shoot skimmers without problem, if your enemy shows up without any flyers. Their splitfire extreme dakka, will and can keep most things at bay or force them to bum rush you, or hunker down. Both are good for you.

The 12" movement makes them hard to chase and easy for you to counter whatever their movements are.

I have three knights magnetized, with enough options to double up ranged weapons on all of them. So I can play any combination.

I have been using renegade knights with my GSC to great effect. Dual avengers + a stormspear missile pod on top is quite devastating. I don't really miss the D weapons. They can still stomp.

They are basically used as a very deadly distraction to my very deadly subterranean uprising.
