Hi all.
After some years away from the hobby me and a friend is planning to give the 41st millenium another chance, Our most recent rule book seems to be the 6th edition (wich I never learned to play, just bought when I was fading away from wargaming). As long as we just play with eachother the edition is no problem, but if we actually get hooked again it would be interesting to know how much 6th differs from 7th (which seems to be the current edition, right?)... If I learn 6th ed rules now, do I have to relearn totally new rules again with 7th, or are those current rules more like updated rules, which I will recognize? And one more question: do we know if there are some 8th edition rules supposed to arrive any soon? Trying to plan my eventual hobby future here...
thanks in advance for any help
/Carl

7ed has a bunch of completely new rules like a whole new psychic system, completely different army building rules, and rules for apocalypse units since those are now legal in regular 40k games. You really do need to learn the 7ed rules and not just try and get by with 6ed knowledge.

And the current rumor is 8ed will be this upcoming summer and is suppose to be a complete revamp of the rules

N.B. you can almost certainly get the mini rulebook on eBay etc for cheap or, if you want the least expensive official source of the physical book, pick up the Kill Team box; you get the core rules, the updated kill team rules and a couple of squads of dudes for relatively little, especially if you get it from a discounter.
