Well today was Veteran's Day in the US and I thought I would relate something interesting (to me anyway) that I saw today. Family went to dinner since many in the family are vets and at the restaurant there was a single table that had been set and had candles lit at it but no one was sitting there. It was a table made to represent and honor all the soldiers who never came home, which I thought was nice. I would like to think other places have done such a thing but this is the first I have seen it. Usually we stay in or go a family members on this day so I probably just missed it. Hopefully others have an experience to share or maybe just a nice thing to say. Not everything has to be hateful and mean after all.

That would be a tear jerker to me. My Veterans day was amazing. Went to eat free lunch at Applebees with a fellow Vet and life long friend. Went to the Indoor gun Range that was having free range time for vets(and free BBQ ribs) we played battleships with 9mm using a fun grid target. I lost, and then my buddy started firing at my ships to "help me out" or rub salt in the wound lol. Then went to Dairy queen for a free blizzard. Then went to IHOP for the Red white and blue pancakes. Went home and drank, remembering all my friends and relatives that aren't with us anymore. It was a great day, hanging out with my brothers in arms, firing guns, and eating with great company, listening to WWII veterans just wanting to talk and bs with other Vets

I spent most of my day off conquering the world in HOI4, ironically.

Yes, indeed. What a terrible piece of cultural imperialism it is for me to say that a country shouldn't murder its own citizens

Got my free meal at Olive Garden. Then took my nephew to his first college football game. Was a good day.

And yes. All military dining facilities will have a POW/MIA table set up near the front. Everything on the table represents something. But I don't know it by heart.

The empty table is a good remembrance.

Had to work, but many fellow employees stopped by my desk to thank me.... Had a meeting with my boss and as always I push for the company to hire more vets. Freedom on

Got a free pizza at Pie 5. Don't like it, but given my wifes extreme lactose intolerance, it's one of the few places she can get pizza.

I've never seen a restaurant set up a POW/MIA table. Granted, I tend to not go out much on Veterans day, just cause I'm always around military, so all of the places offering free food are just slammed. That's great to hear though. It's something I'd expect to see more on Memorial Day, but that's a table I'd always be respect, no matter the day.

Got the privilege of taking my wife to the mall then out to a Thai restaurant. She let me play video games when we got home, so it was worth it. I don't get the free meals because I'm well off now. I'm sure there are vets out there struggling that need it way more than me, and I don't want restaurants to stop because too many show up. Life was pretty rough for several years when I got out.
