So, I want to get some toy cars for a pulp era game.. what scale should I look for to match your average 30mm scale minis? Or would O Gauge model railroad stuff work good? I was afraid those would be a little too small.
And I guess they would have to be die cast? anyone happen know of any good places online where you can get them?

Cool thanks. What about 1:35.. would that be too big? I just found a site selling lots of WWII model cars that would probably fit for what I'm looking for, but the're all 1:35
https://www.megahobby.com/categories/military-models/1-35-scale-military-trucks-cars-humvees-and-j.html
the next size they have is 1:48 .. would that be too small?
I'd rather do plastic models than die cast if I can, but I guess die cast is still fine once you repaint em and stuff

1:35 would be better than 1:48. That's the size of tanks most people use fro proxy/conversions for 40k stuff. I'm not sure how regular cars will scale to that though.

1:35 will be WAY too big.
If you can find 1:50(ish) they will work, but as mentioned, 1:43 is pretty common and will work too. Also look at model railroad O-Scale vehicles.
This is a 1:43 cop car:

Having bought a ton of modern vehicles for All Things Zombie, I agree that O scale is what you should be shooting for. 1/35 is way too big.
People use 1/35 vehicles for 40K vehicles because every vehicle in 40K is based on how cool it looks and not how it should actually be scaled.
Space Marine bikes are enormous, while Rhinos look like a clown car full of Space Marines.

That makes sense, I read about folks using 1/35 scale tanks for 40k so I assumed that was good for all. So I'll look for O Gauge or 1/48.. there's lots of WWII 1/48 models that I'm finding now that I'm looking, things like staff cars and pickup trucks. Might not be american cars but they will look close enough for gaming.
I'm mostly just looking for a few to use as scatter terrain and obstacles mixed in with some of the 4ground gothic city buildings.
