Primers.... God Emperor, I love those kind of threads.

Apart from Gunzee stuff (Sufracer/Finishing Surfacer) I dropped off any kind of primers. The climate here is not so bad and I just use a regular e car paint in a rattle can from the local hardware store. It gives any kind of models a surface that the paint can stuck on.

If the weather is nice I stick to Chaos Black in a rattle can, goes on fast and dries quick. However I have recently been using Vallejo Polyurethane Surface Primers and really love them. I usually spray them on with an airbrush but have used a paintbrush to prime bits and single models. My only complaint is I've noticed you definitely need to let your models sit minimally over night if not for 24 hours to make sure it's completely cured. Otherwise it can still be gummy, I put a fingerprint on a Circle warbeast last year tsk tsk tsk. Learned my lesson though.

Edited to fix spelling errors.

Used to use Halfords rattle cans - red oxide and grey, occasionally white - give a bit of texture to totally flat surfaces but not too much, not too expensive and worked well.

Limited to priming on 'good' days though, not many of them.

Bought an airbrush and compressor and now use Vallejo Polyurethane Surface Primers exclusively, reasonably cheap, good range of colours, easy to apply, and left to cure overnight I've not had a problem with them.

On my second compressor, its still cheaper just for priming, never mind base colours and varnishes as well

Use citadel black or white aerosol unless I can't get them.

Occasionally use the Imperial Primer pot if I don't have capacity to go use a spray.

I use grey automotive primer. Stuff is awesome.

I have white primer from vallejo that I just started to use on a few items.
