Hey guys, I'm going to be playing in my very first tournament tomorrow, which I'm really excited for. It's a doubles and I'm going with my bro and I've heard it'll be a focus on fun and the hobby, rather than competitiveness, so it should be pretty cool.

We're gunna be running the "Defenders of Tera", aka BAngels and Imperial Fists at 750pts each.

I was just wandering if you guys have any tips or advice on playing in a tournament for me, as I've never actually been to one before, like how to handle angry opponents (if I get any) or what things I shouldn't do haha.

Cheers

-Discuss terrain and dubious rules you are planning to use such as the drop pod faq before you roll the first die.

-Do not waste time by going into rule disputes, just let them have the small stuff that isn't game changing.

-Don't mind losing, it will result in a better match up next game.

Well, you need to stay calm if its getting tight.
Moreover, always play for the mission. Everything else doesnt count.

Have a plan. You don't need to stick to it but do remember it.

Take everything you need. Triple check it. No, really - the number of times that people take the wrong case of minis or forget their bag of books you wouldn't believe.

Don't forget to have fun and bring enough to share.

A open tray/carton, where you could put your models (including dice, mission markers and whatnot) in, would be nice.
Then it would easier to settle for the next game at another table. I guess you get the point.

Have fun! Above all, 40k is a game, and we play games to have fun.

Don't worry about losing-this is your first tournament, so don't expect to do super well.

Be a good sport-you want your opponents to look back on your game and say "That guy was cool".

A tray to carry your models between tables (your case does NOT work for this)

A drink that is water or something healthyish, you'll be doing a lot of talking

Go over your army a few times till you have your list memorized, so you're not trying to flip through your codex on turn 6 with 5 minutes left.

Thanks for all the quick replies so far!

I'll make sure to bring a tray, that's a really good tip. I was thinking that packing them all away and taking them back out of the case for each game would get annoying so awesome idea.
I'I'll also make sure not to get picky with the rules haha. That shouldn't be too hard for me anyway as I don't have a hugely thorough understanding of the rules (my bro on the other hand knows them all back to front so I have him to fall back on as well as my oponent).
And I'll be sure to bring a bottle of water, also a good call.
