Hi,
I'm trying to learn 40k. I've been assembling some Genestealer Cults stuff but definitely don't have anything tabletop ready yet. I've been trying to find a place to watch a game or two and ask questions but haven't had too much luck - I've found it hard to insert myself into anything going on locally. Any suggestions for a friendly place to stop by? I live in Yonkers, NY but would be happy to travel a bit.

Welcome to Dakka and the Empire State! There are gamers all up and down the Hudson, so a lot depends on where exactly you are and how much you like to travel.

I try to chime in on all the LFG threads in NY so I can search for my own posts to find helpful links. You might also want to try the store/player finders at the top of the page.

My FLGS these days is Flipside Games, down in East Greenbush (Albany-esque area) so probably a bit of a haul for you. Unless there was a weekend tournament, Mondays normally have a solid turnout for 40k guys.

If you have questions, you can always ask here on Dakka. There is also a thread for battle reports, if you want to “watch” a game to get some pointers. We might not be able to push plastic across the table with you via the internet, but we can help out in a lot of other ways.

Even if you are degenerate xenos filth.

This group http://www.battleforsalvation.com meets Monday's near white plains New York. Great group of guys play all kinds of board games, x wing, and 40k.

If you're still keen, I'm based in Manhattan and looking for players. I have got several big armies, all painted and ready to play, so no troubles if you don't mind travelling!

If you don't mind a 35 minute drive, head to Battlegrounds Games in Norwalk on sundays. People are generally there from noon to 5 or 6 playing. Occasionally there are other minis tournaments scheduled, but they keep it all up to date on their website.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Due to work, I can usually only ship any sales or trades out on Saturday morning. Please trade/purchase with this in mind.

Stop by Battleforsalvation, we are friendly, there's always at least a board game going on but plenty of people to set up games with, and probably like 15 minutes away from you if you're in Yonkers.
