Like the title says I'm looking for a spray on varnish/protector that's Matt. I'd prefer something I could get from a hardware or automotive store to save me a 45 minute drive to the game store.
Any advice or experience with something like this?

Do you have a Michael's craft store nearby?

My local Michael's has Testors Dulcote in stock. With a 40-50% coupon every week, I am well stocked.

Ohh I do, that might be a good option. I've been buying testors from the game store and it works well. It's just the drive out there.

Go to a paint store. Look for satin finish outdoor/indoor water based polyurethane.

Any water based product should say "non yellowing" on it.

Your models will break before anything scratches through the top coat. It won't cost as much as something marketed as a modeling product.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

I use Vallejo for miniatures and Plastikote\Valspar for scenery.
