Imperial Recruit in Training

I'm a new Imperial guard player. I just got into 40k modeling maybe a month ago. My army contains the get stated box set as well as a chimera. And sly marbo. All of my models have been primed but i'm scared about painting them. anybody who can find me a good 500-750 point army. As well as helping me find what exactly to put in a company command squad. I have not played a actual game yet just miniwar gaming battle reports. Thanks for reading.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Your army will be looking very barebones at 750 points. It will be something like 2 groups of veterans in chimeras with 3 melta/plasma in each squad plus a company command squad.
For the command squad I like to go for 2 plasma guns and a lascannon. Whatever you do though, don't assemble it as a medi, standard bearer and vox as it shows on the box.

Welcome to dakka

1750 points of Imperial Guard
500 points of Biel Tan Mech-dar

250 points of Dark Angels
I cast Magic Missile.

Imperial guard was my first army at GW. Was a lot of fun actually. I just got bored of it eventually though as the Cadian shock troops look too assembly line. That side all those templates and ordnance were just so hot i gotta say.

From what i hear wyverns are the current hotness. Run them in 3 and be prepared to make enemies.

Hi! Welcome to Dakka!

As someone who's played Imperial Guard for a while, I've gotta say, while the Wyvern can certainly help make enemies if you REALLY wanna make enemies, look no further than the forge world heavy artillery carriage. Get some 1/35 Trumpeter 15cm guns, 24 guardsmen, and an aegis defense line and watch as people learn to fear earthshaker cannons that can accept orders.
