Welcome to Dakka.

I do a very basic tiger stripe on my scouts. At least the soft armor, I use a sponge/stipple effect on the hard armor/camo cloaks.

(Paint colors are going to be completely non-helpful unless you run them through a translator to modern ones)

Goblin green base
Stripes are in a basic Black (chaos or abbadon depending on the era of the mini) and Bestial Brown (probably mournfang these days) just thinned down a bit an applied with a detail brush.

I endeavor to keep the stripes mostly running horizontal, but consider how the uniform would look laid out flat. So bent arms/legs will make it so it’s not parallel. You also want to have some gentle waves and some forks in the lines, and alter which ones are on top. There is not a lot of overlap, but there is some. And try to make sure that enough of the base coat is covered with a healthy mix of the stripe colors.

Is it going to win any awards? Nope. Will it give the illusion of a nice tiger stripe with minimal skill and effort to get to a tabletop level? Yup.

If you want something better and more realistic, I’d hit google for tutorials, look up some actual examples, etc. Or wait till one of the better painters here on Dakka posts.

I paint white-green tiger stripe camo...

1) white basecoat
2) use detail brush to paint stripes, don't paint them straight
3) light wash in Nuln oil
4) paint areas between stripes with white again, leaving some washed areas visible. (It creates effect of light gray color and makes the camo less flat)

Pains: White (vallejo) , Reflective Green (vallejo), Nulnoil (Citadel)

Look into my showcase to see some photos of it.

If you want to paint Catachans, just use usual colors...
Green basecoat and brown, black stripes...

If you want to be really precise, take and old flat brush with soft hair, put in into light grey paint, rub it almost dry like you would do for a drybrush, but do not rub the brush over it, instead dab it directly onto the mini. It would create tiny dots and stains.

I would do it as a step two, after the green base, but before painting actual stripes.

Looking good, tiger stripe's not too hard to handle once you get the feel for how the stripes are set up.
