Hi guys hope I find you all well.
I am looking to build a new BT army list for 7th ed. My Friends pls, Orks, Thousand Sons, IG and Tau(no riptides thank the Emperor), but I like to build armies that can handle anything thrown at me.
Also we tend to forgo objectives altogether and just stick to old fashioned 40k genocide, though id still like an army that can compete n an objectives mission should we try a few one day.
Most importantly i like my BTs to be a bit fluffy. That means no centurions and no scouts (neophytes are fine of course) and to have at least one LRC on the table
Here is what i had in mind;

Emperor's Champion

Assault Terminators(5) - 3x Thunderhammers
Land Raider Redeemer - Multi-melta

Crusader Squad(Sword brother, 9 Initiates, 5 Neophytes) - Power Sword, Power Axe, Melta gun
Land Raider Crusader - Multi-melta

Crusader Squad(5) - Plasma gun, Plasma Cannon
Razorback

Crusader Squad(5) - Plasma gun, Plasma Cannon
Razorback

- Raptor Wing Detachment -

Stormtalon - Skyhammer Missiles

Stormtalon - Skyhammer Missiles

Land Speeder Squadron(3) - Typhoon Missiles

1845pts

What do you guys think? Pretty much everything is replaceable to me except the large crusader squad in the LCC.
Not sure about the Emperors champ.
any comments are welcome.
Thanks for your time!!

I'm nopt sure you'll find too many people who even remember that Templar's are an option these days, nor get many comments on a kill points only all the time set up, but good luck to you.

As for the list, if you're playing kill points all the time, then the 2 small crusader squads in razorbacks seem like they're going to be easy points for your opponent. Not to mention the fact that you've given them plasma weapons that can't be fired from inside a razorback and will assist with killing their owners faster too, and that the plasma cannon can't be fired the turn that you disembark.

If I was you, I'd be dropping one crusader squad, both razorbacks and one of the landspeeders and taking the two land raiders and adding a third one in a land raider spearhead so they are more durable as well as having simultaneously less kill points and less easy to kill kill points. Then use any remaining points to build up that second crusader squad so it can come out of the raider swining, if not to the same extent as the other squad.

I think the Emperors Champion is a good choice for what you want him for, he has the 2+/4++ that's mandatory for a fighty character, he's str6 AP2, so the killy is covered and he's got HQ level WS, so hitting most things on 3's. Only 2W and 2 A base though, so he's a bit squishy and while he's got instant death on 6's, he doesn't really have the attacks to make great use of it. Magic when it works though, but for his points, he gets the job done, just try and kill stuff before it hits you back.

So;

CAD
140 - Emperors Champion
240 - Crusader squad, 1x Sword Brother, 9x Initiates, 5x Neophytes, 2x Axe, 1x Melta Gun
70 - Crusader squad, 5x Initiates
205 - 5x Assault termies, 3x TH & SS

Land Raider Spearhead
260 - Crusader, Multimelta
260 - Crusader, Multimelta
250 - Redeemer, Multimelta

Raptor Talon
140 - 2x Land Speeders, 2x Typhoon, 2x Heavy Bolters
115 - Stormtalon, skyhammer
115 - Stormtalon, skyhammer

1795

Leaves you with 55 points to trick out your second Crusader squad, be it a sword brother and as many power weapons as you can manage or 5 neophytes to bulk up numbers and eat overwatch, the choice is yours, but the ability of the land raiders to ignore shaken, stunned, immobilised and weapon destroyed is a gamechanger to be sure.

Very interesting. Had not considered replacing a razorback squad. You gave me an idea even if it is rather different from what you are suggesting. I am thinking of dropping a razorback squad, a typhoon and the other plasma cannon for 2 vindicators. Would be more dangerous if maybe easier to kill. And what would you suggest for something more objective oriented?

For more objective based gameplay you want more scoring units so your razorback squads and any other crusader squads.. sometimes I take a five man squad without any upgrades to hold backfield objectives!

Another alternative is to take fast units such as land speeders and bikes so you can quickly capture objectives also taking several crusader squads with land raiders as dedicated transports to park on objectives this also works.

In terms of vindicators I've only ever used one but it did relatively well for me so two couldn't hurt.. pie plates always help in objective games too!

Accept any challenge, No matter the odds
