So, I'm curious about what the community's general feelings are about Malice, originally Malal, the fifth Chaos God. I'm pretty sure he's still canon, although that's debatable, and for the purpose of this poll, irrelevant. Do you think he's a cool and badass, boring and unnecessary or what?

Just for those who don't know, Malice is supposedly the Chaos God that embodies Chaos' self-defeating aspects. His champions delight in fighting other Chaos, their weapons are great for fighting demons. Here's a link so you can read up what little there is on him, if you want.

Malice is a reference to Malal, without actually being Malal.
Malice I can take or leave, he's just some minor warp entity that patronises a Space Marine Chapter.
Malal on the other hand I dislike, he seems like a stupid and limited concept.

I like the black and white, and I find the chaos that tries to consume chaos idea amusing. It is more chaos-y than I see the other standard chaos gods, which kind of just come across as the kind of boring 4 horsemen of the apocalypse/Christian amorality-type gods.

Malal is probably my second favorite (behind Necoho because the absurd notion of a chaos god of atheism is just too hilarious).

Red Ink Cat pretty much sums up my views on Malal. While Necoho is the best of the Chaos gods... as defined by "what is actually most-Chaotic/strange/reality-warping and mind-bending"... Malal as the nature of systems to turn upon themselves is a great runner-up.

Malice (and/or Malal) is - like Necoho and Zuvassin - an interesting footnote, but his obscurity is the most interesting thing about him.

If we have to have both, I like the idea they are not the same God, but two similar gods competing over the same resources, like a pair of binary stars orbiting the same point but never quite coalescing. I think this plays up to the self-defeating nature of these gods / chaos generally.

I love the Malice and Malal debate because honestly.....it feeds into the very idea of his power as a Chaos god. He is and he is not, everywhere but nowhere, all powerful but weak.

He is by far my favorite chaos god because he is the god of pure chaos. I like to think of him the the ref of the eternal war of chaos, if one chaos god becomes to strong, he knocks them down a peg to insure there is always chaos and war.

He is the God who if 2 armies go into battle, they end up leaving with more troops then they start with.

My favorite fan theory of it is that he and the emperor are the same person. Because Malal gets stronger the more people dont believe in him. Whats the best way to make that happen? Create a galaxy wide government that outlaws all forms of worship, thus making you stronger. Problem was, it back fired on him, and when the IoM started to think the Big E was a god, he started to get weaker, which is why Horus was able to wound him. Now he is trapped on the golden thrown inside the Big E because everyone keeps praying to him.
