I have a ton of mark 3 kits from Prospero boxes and want to equip my heavy support squads with the cool looking heavy weapons from Forgeworld. As I'd be forking out a bit of cash for these I also planned to use them as Devastators in 40k.

Has anyone else used mark 3 kits to build devastators? How did they look? Does the sturdier armour suit them as the current Devastator kits have reinforcments on their armour anyway.

What about mixing other marks into 40k squads? I also have lots of mark 4 I plan to randomly seed into my tactical and assault squads. Is it better to use the whole kit for one model or mix and match legs and torsos etc.. Anyone done this? How did it turn out?

For reference I will be building Salamanders and possibly Imperial Fists.

Pretty much all the 40k and 40k bits will fit modern models

On looks unsure. But bits will be useable. Heavy weapons are heavy weapons...

Depends on mix and match armour... I prefer to mix in suits into different squads idea. A Sgt may have a venerable relic suit while his men have more regular armour etc.

Not mix all the bits up... Much as fluffy for mk5.
It could look ... Bad done wrongly.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

I have no clue how Dakka's moderation work. I expect it involves throwing a lot of d100 and looking at many random tables.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

Older armour is typically given out to veterans and heroes as a reward but salamanders being the artisans they are could of kept more functioning heresy era armour working.
