I'm now where I need to be-ish with my elder, and I've not long started showing my face in the tournament scene. But I'd now like to do it with Khorne. So I have a list idea, it fulfils ITC restrictions. Here it is:
KDK CAD
HQ - Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster
HQ - Bloodthirster of insensate rage
Troops - 8 Bloodletters
Troops - 8 Bloodletters
Troops - 8 Bloodletters
Fast Attack - Heldrake, Baleflamer
Fast Attack - Heldrake, Baleflamer
Heavy Support - Maulerfiend, stock
Heavy Support - Maulerfiend, lashers
Lord of War - Khorne Chaos Knigh Errant, Dirge Caster.
Bloodletters start in deep strike reserve.

The issue I am seeing here in relation to what I know of competitive kdk is that you not only don't have a gorepack, you don't have any dogs at all. They're one of the best units in the codex.

I hear this so many times from people on Dakka? Khorne dogs have never performed for me. All they do is die. Nothing else. They scout forward, then can't charge, and die. I don't understand the internets obsession with them. I've never seen them do anything of note. Even in the hands of others.

Do you really think the Wrath of Khorne is worth the extra 50 points over the fury?

Honestly, a good question, I don't know. From what I can see, he gains an extra base attack in melee due to 2 specialist weapons. He has D3 shooting attacks instead of 1. And hatred characters. It's a lot of points for that granted. But I think it could be helpful. I'm assuming you would disagree?

I mean, I magnetized mine to be both options, but I honestly have never found myself with 50points spare.
I prefer my thirsters as summoned reserves tbh(in which case there is no reason not to take the Wrath)

I'd find a way to make your Knight a Paladin as well. I have found it is better in every game I have played and worth the 5 points. You also get another stubber which is nice.

Ok, so the idea behind the list was that the two fiends, knight, and 2 thirsters start on the table. All move forward 12" and mostly run. Then turn two the three squads of letters deepstrike, the two drakes come on and then looking for a mass turn three charge.
What does the lord and the hounds offer? Why cultists for letters??

Lord and hounds are a pretty versatile unit. They get scout, and small enough to take advantage of terrain, and can punch out most things.
I guess I just don't rate bloodletters, and would rather save the points.Cultists also have a mortal character eligible for turning into a Prince/thirster.
With the faq changes confirmed summoning is a lot better.
But that's just me, two thirsters is fun too.

Yeah, I get they're a mortal character, but at leadership 7 and needing to pass a leadership test it's very unreliable in my experience. And then your 8 tithes are spent. I can get a lord on juggernaut in with hounds if I drop a thirster easily. But I'm not sold on it as a tactic. I'm not sure it offers as much as a thirster. Automatically Appended Next Post: Ok, how about this:
CAD
HQ - Chaos Lord, Jugganaught, Axe of ruin, lightening claw, Sigil of corruption
HQ - Bloodthirster of insensate Rage
Troops - 8 Bloodletters
Troops - 8 Bloodletters
Fast Attack - 10 flesh hounds (lord goes here)
Fast Attack - Heldrake, flamer
Fast Attack - Heldrake, flamer
Heavy Support - Maulerfiend, cutters
Heavy Support - Maulerfiend, lashers
Lord of War - Chaos Knight Errant
This still kind of fits my theme and takes into consideration your suggestions. Though I now don't have the dirge caster. The lightning claw gains the lord an extra Attack, and means I gain shred if all I need is AP3

Cultist champs are LD 8 and are pretty effective summon beacons I have found. I typically run a mix of cultist and letters as I like the DS flexibility. Maulerfieds need things like dogs to take away fire. The best part of dogs is they draw fire away from your thirsters and fiends. Opponents must deal with the dogs that are 1" away from them or risk getting bogged down. Those are shots that aren't going into thirsters and fiends and giving you bloodtithes to pop FNP or summon more dogs. Their goal is to die and give you tithes and draw fire. If they hit and kill its a bonus. When I give the lord Axe of Ruin I don't give him any upgrades. He is there to die. If your opponent kills him turn one you have the thirster summoned for your turn to assault right away. He doesn't need 10 dogs or the sigal to stay alive as you want him dead quickly to use the thirster quickly. Scout him forward and put him in front. You can tank a few wounds but ultimately you want him dead on your opponents turn so you can assault with him on your next turn.

Don't forget that tithe summoning a thirster off a lord with ruin axe makes two.

Nope. They in fact confirmed you do get two. You might be confused because the question asked about Dark Apotheosis and the model becoming a Prince, in which case you do not get the Korlath trigger because the unit never "dies" and retains its equipment, however if that Prince is then slain you do get the Bloodthrister. After thay answer they tacked on the bit about Fury Unbound and confirmed you do get two Bloodthirsters in that situation.

My list looks a lot like yours, i only play a lord and a prince instead of your thirsters (which you changed in your other post^^).
Don't have tested it yet, but it's kinda fast, with all models without cultists moving 12".
Fleshhounds are good, but i don't like the Gorepack. The bikers are a tax, that don't do much and waste a bunch of points.
Here is my army:
Prince with Armor, Wings and Goredrinker
Chaoslord with Jumppack, Meltabombs + Korlath
2x8 Cultists
2x Helldrakes with Baleflamer
17 Fleshhounds
2x Maulerfiends with lasher
1 Daemonknight of Khorne with Dirgecaster
1847 Points

Bikers are a tax? First I've heard of this seeing as the gorepack is hands down the best formation KDK have. The bikes with meltas threaten with speed and melta damage. They are very cheap and to think they are a tax sounds rather strange. Perhaps you have had different experiences than me and many other KDK players but the bikes always pull their weight.

I really like all of the lists posted.
I don't think khorne bikes are too much of a tax, and with a couple of melta guns they provide a good way of opening transports up so you don't have to charge rhinos with bloodthirsters, knights etc. which is just a waste of a turn in my eyes. Having said that everything in these lists has a place

Don't want to offend someone with my statement that i don't like the gorepack.
Maybe i have underrated them in my games.
Hope my list is decent even without a gorepack?
I have one question regarding the gorepack. When bikes are not a tax, why there aren't more chaos armies that use bikes?
I only see bikes in lists with gorepack or maybe when someone uses traitors hate, but other than that there are no bike units in chaos armies.
Helldrakes are supererior and spawn in regular CSM also.
Bikes are good no question, but they die to easy and are only Meq s so get gunned down very fast in a world with grav, ap2 everywhere and very hardhitting closecombat units.

Could be because the models are old and boring. Or because they compete with spawn and heldrakes in fast attack (and flesh hounds in KDK). Maybe people don't like the concept of riding into battle on a motorbike... I'm kind of on the fence about that.
It's a good point

I'm gong to go pro-bikers, whether gorepack or not. Melta bikers really help supplement a KDK list, bringing fast, ranged tank killing action to a list that otherwise packs that option. Give them FNP if you think they aren't going to make it!
I'll also go pro-vanilla CSM bikers with MoN. T6 bikers are fun, give them whatever weapon you want and have at!

I know the gorepack is a popular choice for KDK players. I haven't played KDK competitively at all, only in a friendly setting. So this is a forst for me, but I feel putting a gorepack in takes away from what I want this list to do.
I want the hounds in a big squad with the lord, not in 2 squads. (I've already caved and added hounds...)
12" moving bikes with 12" melta is surely no better than a 12" moving knight with a 36" melta large blast. I know the knight is an insane amount of points in comparison but he can do the same job from further away, and assault a different unti thanks to his stubber.
Overall, I think I am quite happy with the second iteration of the list. I contemplated droping the sigil of corruption down to an aura of dark glory to free up 10 points for a second set of lasher tendrils, but the magma fiend I already own, so for now that will stay as it is I think.
