Kill Team Detachment #1 (200pts)

5x Howling Banshees (intended to hold units in combat for as long as possible)
3x Shadow Spectres (first time to use them, want to get a feel for them)
5x Rangers (sniper support)

Kill Team Detachment #2 (250pts)

5x Fire Dragons (for the Melta)
3x Shining Spears (for the distance and speed, and to quickly move in to help any unit that gets in trouble)
5x Dire Avengers (to be in the front line, and absorb the first wave of attacks)

I did not get any Wraiths here because I wanted to keep this list friendly. However if you do the math you'll notice I am 50 points short of the 500 points for the game. Any tips on what to add or swap out?

Mind explaining what the rules are for this expanded KT game? Since it's usually just 200 points.

Is this just regular kill team, but with two detachments, each at 250 points?

It is a regular kill team but with a higher point count.

Rangers are pretty weak units in any gamemode, so I'd recommend swapping them for any other troops choice.

I've found that Shuriken Cannons on Windriders work very well in Kill team since the 4th shot of a scatter laser of often unnecessary overkill, so the pseudo-rending of the Shuriken Cannon wins out over the 4th shot, and the small table size makes the range difference less significant.

Guardians are a great way to add lots of bodies, but people have varying house rules on how to handle their weapon platforms. A neat trick with them is to give them a scatter laser and give it Reaping Volley so it can fire all 4 of it's shots at different targets.

Dire Avengers are just a solid, normal choice if you're looking to save points on troops and spend more on specialized units.

As for what to do with the extra 50 points, Warp Spiders (though maybe not if you want to keep it "friendly") or more Shining spears are always good. You also might want to upgrade one of your Banshees or Shining Spears to an Exarch to act as your leader.
