Yaho,

Scenario:

1. Deathstar with 1-n independent characters and one scrub left gets tank shocked by Chimera 1 in such a way that the chimera will break unit coherency and displace a key deathstar component, removing it from play
2. Urist McScrub equipped with melta bomb, storm shield and lightning claw heroically 'splodes chimera
3. Leman Russ 1 declares tank shock
4.???

With the FAQ re-emphasising one grenade per unit per phase, it would appear Urist can't use the melta bomb now. Death Or Glory on BRB 92 says '...single close combat attack using any weapon carried, including grenades', which wishful thinking could say overrides the 'thrown ' limitation, but we've been down this route before.

I believe the answer is, "no melta bomb for you" but it's possible someone has more insight on the subject.

Thoughts?

Some people find the idea that other people can be happy offensive, and will prefer causing harm to self improvement.

Its pretty clear. The FAQ makes grenades used for close combat adhere to the one per phase restriction. And Death or Glory specifically says its a close combat attack.

However, each tank shock could be said to be its own close combat phase.

Each tank shock is a tank shock...which is something that happens in the movement phase. One grenade per phase...so one per movement phase...

RAW, it seems like you can only use one grenade. Both tank shocks happen in the same movement phase.

It's not like overwatch where the BRB basically says that you get a "free" shooting phase.
