Hey guys, so I'm returning to the hobby and I am starting from scratch.

I do want to stick with the GW paints- but I have no idea where to start.
Are the Citadel paint sets worth it?

If I'm planning to do the vanilla Eternal Stormcast which would be the best direction to start?

Also, I've heard that GW glue is just overpriced and so are the clippers and mould removers etc. etc.

What about the brushes?
Are the brushes at the GW shops worth the buck?

Any guides on where to start for collecting paint would be great!
Cheers.

For brushes, you want something like Windsor and Newton #7. I don't know much about brushes, but those are considered top of the line. GW brushes are just not the best. Army Painter has a decent set of brushes if you care for them. Brush soap is a must.

For glue, I like https://www.amazon.com/Liquid-Cement-Plastics-1-oz/dp/B0006N6ODS Its thin and works great. The last batch of thin GW glue I used just didn't hold up. No idea if it has changed but I won't be going back.

In fact, for all your tool questions, there is a handy article that has a lot of it listed out. http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/The_Toolbox%21 The GW stuff is alright, but it is pricey.

As far as actually buying GW paints, I find it best to find the paints I need for a particular project and get those if I don't have it. If I bought a paintset, chances are most of the paints aren't going to be what I need. This way you only get what colors you need and don't end up with extras you don't. As far as your question on Stormcast, can't help you there. Maybe see if GW has a painting video on youtube for it.

Citadel paints are fine, though maybe a little pricey, and the design of the pots is annoying - paint's good though really

I do really like the citadel clippers...if I was going to buy any tool from gw, it'd be that.

...hobby knife and glue, buy elsewhere - find a local hobby shop, there's bound to be a few, and get whatever hobby knife you want really, and some "poly(styrene) cement"/"plastic glue" - I use revell personally...citadel plastic glue is fine, but I prefer revell, it's a little cheaper, and the needle applicator on the revell one has never blocked up on me, unlike the citadel one. For superglue, I recommend selley's quick fix, you can get that pretty much anywhere, and it's the best superglue I've ever used

As for the paints you'll need, if you're going to be painting stormcast, in the standard poster-boy colour scheme, I suggest getting on youtube and going to the warhammer tv channel...there should be some painting tutorial videos from the AoS starter set, with Duncan painting some stormcast in that colour scheme, should be helpful - and there'll be a paint list at the start of the video too

One paint I know you'll need though, which might not be in the paint list in the video (I think it was released a little later), "Retributor Armour", metallic gold "base" paint...metallic gold paints in general have always had terrible strength and coverage - retributor armour is amazing though!...it does cost more than the regular paints though, but imo, it's bloody worth it
