Looking through GWs website in their paint section, I noticed they have two different types of metallics. One has the normal pot style, and the other set has a white lid. Names like fulgurite copper and stormhost silver. What is different about these paints vs their regular metallics?

They're newer, with a different formulation, and more expensive.
They've got pretty good coverage. I think technically the difference is a finer grade of metallic flake, but they're worth the price IMO

You might as well throw Runefang steel out the window if you have Stormhost Silver. It's just an all around superior paint. :-)

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-) |

That's not quite true. Some people might need a muddled and far less shiny version of Stormhost Silver.

Do they end up looking shinier?

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

They have a denser amount of metallic flake in them, leading to a stronger coverage per layer.
As for the white lids, it's just that those are the ones most recently released, and were at some point in a stand alone tray on the GW counter.
Some of them can now be bought with regular, transparent lids.

Yeah, it's expensive, but the Base color of Retributor armor is by far the best gold I have used in 20 years. For years and years I struggled with golds that had the crappiest coverage and texture, but one or two coats covers just great, and a coat of Armypainter Strong Tone makes it look amazing.
