Hi all,

Looking at doing white armor on some new 1k sons minis though want more of a metallic white or pearl.

Will this product work on its own as a metallic white? Should I mix with white?

Look elsewhere or scrap the idea of metallic white?

I picked up some of their paints a couple of months ago, including the Metallic Turquoise, which I will be using for Alpha Legion and tried out on a sword to see how well it worked. I was happy with it and so bought the metallic set recently, though due to work I haven't had any time at all to paint so I don't know how the metallic white (or most of the others) come out.

Still, they're very cheap paints and got from Cyprus to AU very quickly - and it's the specific colour you're after.

^^ this stuff is awesome, I just got their metallics as well, really very nice. I suspect you'll want to maybe do a white prime and use the metallic white over that.

I haven't used the vallejo metallic medium so can't say - if you have it you could give it a go on a small sprue or something and see how it does. From what I've heard it is more of an iridescent quality, not necessarily what you're looking for.

always always always test things and take nothing anyone says on the internet as fact unless they are posting some SERIOUSLY high level stuff. most people give bad advice or wont know your personal pref/taste

just gota test it out but i would guess white metalic wont look very good then again ive never seen such a thing so why not just test it

Bad advice or not knowing personal preference has nothing to do with what's been posted here. Your post has no useful content whatsoever. I guess it's a good example of bad advice as it's no useful advice.

im telling him not to listen to anyone here and just buy it and try it. what. thats the best advice because most people here are bad painters. even the ones who swear they are good

Buy what? The paint that two people suggested might fit his needs when he asked about a specific colour? How is that bad advice?

Also, you might want to tone down the rudeness and arrogance. There's a thing here called Rule#1.

Vallejo Metal Medium is essentially unpigmented metallic paint. It might work for what you're doing, but mixing it with a little bit of white paint will probably be a good idea.

Thank you everyone. The suggestions and comments have helped me to further determine what I want.

The table of war colors is appreciated and gave me an idea of what it might look like. White with a silver glare.

At this point I am thinking of switching gears to more of a pearl whitr or white sparkle though not sure how well that would look on small surface areas.

No doubt I will test it out before doing the project though answering my question and offering experiences has been helpful.

I 2nd the warcolors paint as have the metallic set and its great especially the dark silver which does plate armour great

little OT:

those who're using the warcolours, how are you doing your normal metals? I mean I'm trying to change my recipe of the normal leadbelcher, ironbreaker highlight silver etc to the warcolours set. The darker black silver, I think it is, is darker than I'm used to and the lighter silver is a bit too light. Anyway just wondering if anyone's come up with a recipe they've liked so far?

I haven't painted in about a month, so haven't used much of them yet, but I don't foresee any change in my usual metallic recipes using Vallejo, Citadel, etc. Warpaints are going to supplement what I have, not replace it.

In fact, I've just picked up the Citadel Dry metallics to play with and see how they fit in, since I've never used them before.
