Hey, just thought of a Ultramarines list for 1500 points. I think its pretty good, but personally, I think there could be a bit of tweaking done to it. Let me know what you guys think, thanks.

HQ
Captain with terminator armour and powerfist
- 130 points

Elites
5 Sternguard veterans with 5 combi-melta
- 160 points

5 Sternguard veterans with 5 combi-melta
- 160 points

6 man Terminator squad with cyclone missile launcher
- 235 points

Fast attack
8 man Assault Marine squad with veteran sergeant with eviscerator and combat shield
- 176 points

Troops
10 man Tactical Squad with missile launcher and flamer
- 160 points

5 man Combat squad with plasma gun
- 85 points

5 man Combat Squad with plasma gun
- 85 points

Dedicated Transport
3 Rhinos
- 105 points

2 Drop Pods
- 70 points

Heavy Support
Devastator Squad with 2 missile launchers and 2 plasma cannons
- 130 points

My idea behind this list was to drop pod meltas behind vehicles effectively taking them out. My devastators would clean up any vehicles that survived while also taking out troops and elites. Terminators can absorb hits, especially with the captain having 3 wounds. Combat and tactical squads secure objectives and take out infantry. Let me know what you guys think.

That Devastator Squad doesn't know what it wants to do. It's bringing Missile Launchers, which are generalist weapons to be okay at all situations rather than good at any one, and Plasma Cannons, which stink.

So do you think I should switch plasma cannons for missile launchers?

I think you should switch them for either Lascannons (you're never gonna use the Frag in 95% of games, so you gain +1S and AP for 5 points), Multi Meltas (shorter ranged, but better AP and much better anti-tank if you can deliever them), or Grav Cannons (just... It's gorram Grav).

@JNAProductions Another thing that I would like your feedback is regarding my sternguard and drop pods. Do you think that one squad is enough? I don't know whether I should spend 320 points to drop pod my veterans to practically just die! They will take care of the vehicles but I don't know if its worth it. I don't want to get rid of the sternguard squad because I need them for the formation. What do you think I should do with them?

Suicide sternguard are worth their points if they can find a target to kill. Against a MSU spam list, they will blow up a rhino, maybe a stick of 5 naked guys. Not worth the points. Against a list with imp. knights, you drop one pod on either side of him, he can only shield vs. one of them, and they both make their points back. I personally don’t really like the tactic, but it is a valid one.

Speaking of which, move one of your tac squads to a pod, giving you 3. This way you can drop both sternguard squads turn one.

Terminators are fluffy and fun, but a bit mediocre. I’d put a chainfist in the squad, just in case something heavy needs to be ripped open. Might drop the 6th man for points. I like the AsC, but the CML has merit.

I’d keep the assaults at 5 man. Get the flamers. Jump packs?

ML/F is the classic tac loadout. I field one often, more from tradition then effectiveness. I’d invest in c-plasmas for the combat squad sarges. They are going to hop out of their rides and get one good shot, make it count.

4xLC is my dev squad of choice. PCs have a host of problems, and MLs are kinda meh at everything. I regret every frag I send downrange, and if shooting tanks, the extra S/AP of the LC is worth the points. That’s for the classic camp in ruins dev squad. You could take a capheracti captain for S&P shenanigans and put them in a pod with GC/MMs. It feels a little gimmicky, but is legal.

Your captain is just kinda there. If he’s in a squad full of powerfists, I might give him a relic blade, just so he can use his I5.

Overall not a bad looking list. Most of your AV is front loaded in the vets. But you have some CC options as well. Should do well in casual FLGS play. Depending, of course, how rough your local meta is.

Ok, thanks for the input. I'll definitely take lascannons on my devastators.
