Eh, that puts the onus on players keeping track of that. If you have tokens or such and are a stickler for tracking (per model? Gah, think of the ork mobs!), not a problem*. Personally, I find 40K to be too woolly for that sort of thing.
Could also make it like a "low-ammo" rule; when the squad chucks grenades, roll a die. On X (say 5 or 6), the squad's out. Still requires tracking, but not on a per model basis.
