Pretty simple. Each model that has grenades can only use them once, unless they buy more grenades.

1 Point Per Frag Grenade (max 4 extra)
2 Points Per Krak Grenade (max 4 extra)
4 Points Per Melta Bomb (max 2 extra)

This makes it so Assault Marines, for instance, don't get a S6 AP4 shooting attack if they're within 8" every single time.

Eh, that puts the onus on players keeping track of that. If you have tokens or such and are a stickler for tracking (per model? Gah, think of the ork mobs!), not a problem*. Personally, I find 40K to be too woolly for that sort of thing.

Could also make it like a "low-ammo" rule; when the squad chucks grenades, roll a die. On X (say 5 or 6), the squad's out. Still requires tracking, but not on a per model basis.

* And there's always the "Eh, boyz, Imma outta grenades - toss me one so I canz throw it at the oomies over there. N' don't ferget to pick up Crack'edToof's grenades - 'E ain't gonna use 'em no more, hur hur."

I don't think it would affect Tyranid stuff, since those aren't really grenades. Maybe, though? Then again, Tyranids need not nerfs.

I do like the Low-Ammo suggestion. Maybe make it a 6+, with a +1 modifier for each time you throw a grenade in one phase? Simple to keep track of, but makes it risky to, say, throw 5 Krak Grenades in one shooting phase or make 5 assaults through cover.
