hello,

in a few weeks we have a tournament that'll be 125pts and i thought why not try this sort of list:

Onyx Squadron Pilot (defender)

Nimble aces are going to try to arc dodge you. Even high PS generics are going to try to run circles around you.

That being said, you still have four arcs of fire, it's going to be hard to stay out of all of them. You just run the chance that someone pours all of its fire into a single ship and you have one that never gets to fire. At all.

Interesting idea. I'll just note that the 'scopes ' on the shuttle only changes the ps to 0 during the activation phase, so it will still shoot before the deltas...

yeah i've sort of accepted that that'll be the case. i think a spearhead formation is going to be of benefit. the good thing is that if s ship bumps me i can easily tractor beam it off the ship to it can fire at it, hopefully....

yeah that's intentional. i want to use the shuttle as a bit of a blocker. the good thing though is that the Onyx squadron pilot is higher PS so it should get it's tractor beam on a ship so the shuttle can take advantage of it as well.

So the verdict is in on this list....

i modded it slightly before the weekend to dropping the Onyx pilot to a delta and then added an ion cannon to the shuttle. in hindsight i should have added a collision detector on as well.

so ten people turned up which should have meant four rounds but the venue wouldn't allow us the time to do four rounds so we ended up playing three instead.

first tound saw me up against a scum list with a ywing, a few other ships which for the life of me i can't think of and a unicorn, a starvyper. it went rather well for me with only loosing the shuttle.

second round saw me against a Kwing, hawk and a T70 Nunb. i lost the shuttle and a defender but i had the win.

at the end of the second round i was leading the scores. the last round was annouced and i was going up against my arch enemy, 3 uboats. Dengar and two Contracted scouts with Plasma torps and protons on Dengar.

so i went into the last round a bit hesitant about winning. off the start i gunned it with the defenders and tried to close the gap fast. he came in in a line of ships. turn two were both in shooting range. he opens up with the protons from Dengar on the lead defender, doesn't do anything. opens up with the scouts and the plasmas, two shields gone on one defender and four on the shuttle. i fire everything i had at Dengar to break him. i strip the shields and 2 hull in on round. turn three i turn around and by the end of the turn i have Dengar lined up in a classical pincer maneuver with the three defenders. he opens up on the shuttle hoping to get Palp with Boba Fett, and i deny him with Palp. all three defenders had to open up on Dengar, just couldn't hit anything but it eventually fell.
turn 4 and the defenders round on the last two scouts. two turns of shooting and i can't drop a single scout. i loose the shuttle and one defender by the end.
i try to get out with the other two to open up the field and repositon to have another run at his ships but i loose the second last one whilst trying.
the last one made a bit of valiant effort of getting out and continued to skirt around shots but eventually he fell. in hindsight i should have said :f**k it i'm not going to win this" and i should have stopped running and turned to take them on.

so in the end i came in third (because the guy in third ended up winning his match and only slightly won over me in points.
