Hey all,

So over the years, the larger suits for Tau have begun to grow on me (I honestly used to detest how they looked... now, I think they look pretty cool), and as such I've begun building a super special army for the stuff I've grown to like:

2000 points of shenanigans:

Formation 1:

Commander - 2 drones, shield, missile pod, 2x plasma rifles

XV8 - 2 drones, twin-linked burst cannon, advanced targeting
XV8 - 2 drones, twin-linked burst cannon, advanced targeting
XV8- 2 drones, fusion, missile, early warning

Broadside- 2 drones

Riptide, 2 drones, ion accelerator

Formation 2:
Ghostkeel- ion raker, twin-linked fusion

XV25- Shas'vre, fusion, homing beacon, 2 drones
XV25- Shas'vre, fusion, homing beacon, 2 drones

Formation 3"
Stormsurge- pulse driver cannon
Stormsurge- +frag

Ghostkeel- Ion raker, twin-linked fusion

I have no less than 4 battlescribe lists title shenanigans 1-4, for tau.

For the commander/xv8's/xv25's/broadsides, which drones are you taking?

homing beacon on the xv25's, who is deep striking?

Drop the missile pod on the commander and the two gun drones. Drop the drones from the other squads as well. Loosing just one will cause the unit to take a leadership check and you don't want that.

Literally every drone that doesn't have a commander with a drone controller running it or is in the drone net formation giving them great special rules should be dropped.

Go double fusion on your 3rd crisis suit for an effective tank buster.

Use the points saved to get your commander iridium armor and maybe stim injectors since he's going to be jumping into the proverbial $!&@ and won't make it out alive with a paltry t4 3+ armor save. Then work on a good killy unit to put him in, probably a unit of crisis with all plasmas. With the new codex the sarg in a crisis squad can take signiture systems which means you no longer have to waste the commanders bs 5 to automatically ignore cover and twin link. Pretty handy.

Also I don't think the storm surge formation is worth it. To many units will basically auto pass that pinning check monsoon of destruction causes. I could be wrong because you didn't list what formation those guys are in. Just a guess.

To clarify storm surges are still amazing just better usually in the hunter cadre or CAD.

Literally the entire first formation ... It's a Retaliation Cadre.

The point of the list isn't really to wreck faces and be TFG (that's the eldar players in the shop I'm at). The point is more just to have fun with a ridiculous, silly Tau list. The irony is, with even the WAAC eldar players we have in shop, if you ask them for a game, as soon as you say "Imperial Knight" or "Stormsurge" they start putting their stuff away (despite bringing one or more wraithknight)... It's the primary reason I took the ordnance gun on one of the surges, just so people will play it
