Hey all... I am not a tournament player.. I just play for fun with friends and am not very educated with all this army detachment mumbo jumbo

For the Thousand Son Wrath of Magnus Special rules:
Units with a Mark of Chaos other then Tzeentch cannot be taken.

Does that mean I cannot mix a force of Thousand Sons and some Nurgle units?

Thanks!

That rule is for that detachment, not the whole army

This is also very much the wrong section for it. This is for homebrew rules, not rules questions.

So I can run Nurgle as my main army and this just as the attachment correct? Sorry not in tune with all this detachment stuff.

Cool, but that's no help.

Yes, you can do that. Just be aware of keeping yourself Bound-every unit has to be within a formation of one kind or another, or you become Unbound.

Actually it does help. Most people won't even read your thread here. I've made chaos decurions for the legions myself and yet I rarely visit this sub forum.

As for your question, you're army consists of various detachments. Those can be whatever, have restrictions of their own and don't usually care what else your army consists of.
So you don't run nurgle as a main army really. You could have a purge detachment or a CAD and make that your primary detachment. You could use the wrath of magnus formations or detachment alongside your primary detachment, or any number of other detachments you are bringing.
The units in your CAD of normal chaos space marines would not be subject to the wrath of magnus rules and restrictions. So the models in there could be as nurgly as you want.
