His work with interaction fiction alone gives him my respect. What a shame.

I met him at UK Games Expo earlier this year, and got a book signed by him as well as having a chat - seemed a really nice guy.
What a shame.

Many years ago there was a short lived UK Gaming magazine called GM International/ Games Master International
In one of the issues
2nd from bottom right , green & ghostsbusters comp. on the cover --- there was a feature where a/some competition winners got to go to Joe Dever's house and partake in a truly epic wargame.
His models and scenery -- as well as the Dragonlance t-shirt and 80s metal hair of "wayne" from the magazine -- were most memorable indeed.
Have to see if I've still got the issue knocking about somehwre.

I just saw the announcement on Facebook. I had been following him for a few years. They said he's been fighting an illness for about 10 years.
That's a real shame. I have nearly all of the Lone Wolf game books and a handful of the novels.
Great author.
Tis a shame.

There are three books left unfinished, he spent his final month working on polishing his drafts for them, and his family have said that the series will be completed by them.
Book 29 was released earlier this year, and there have been kickstarters this year to re-release his other works, Freeway Warrior and Grey Star.
If anyone wants to re-read the books, I highly recommend the free mobile app which uses the data from project aon:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.GDVGames.LoneWolfBiblio&hl=en
15 of the Lone Wolf books are on there currently and the app handles combat and inventory for you.
