So.. I still like the idea of Imperial Guard, The endless horde of humanity standing in the way of all the universes horrors and all that. But.. I dont like catachans cus they are old and ugly sculpts, And I dont realy like Cadians since it feels like everyone uses them.. I'd much rather have guardsmen with longcoats like Steel Legion or Death Korps of Krieg, But without them being metal, And without them costing a fortune.... Does anyone know if there are any good alternative sculpts like that?

I've been having some success mixing parts of Skitarii and Dreamforge Eisenkern models. It's still a work in progress and requires some greenstuffing to work (and the leg poses/coat poses don't always match up) but I like the results.

Isn't Anvil Industry going to launch something similar?

Not sure about the prices I estimate 10 pounds less per 10 men, compared to the DKK.

But you can build your troopers here. Stahlhelm with mask for head, chest - greatcoat, any and finally legs with long greatcoat. Fatigue arms. Weapon at you choice...

http://www.regiments-designer.com/

EDIT: also, for not-grenadiers, try to switch the chest for the "medieval" one. You can even design stormtroopers swapping the head for the Stahlhelm Deathmask, and again the chest for Heavy Armour and add armoured arms..

Generic characters disappearing? Elite units of your army losing options and customizations? No longer finding that motivation to convert?

If you like Valhallans, you can make them pretty cheaply from Warlord games Winter Soviet Boxes https://us-store.warlordgames.com/collections/soviet-army/products/soviet-winter-infantry-plastic-box-set

All you need to do is order some sort of sci fi weapons from another company to get them looking properly Imperial Guard like. I'd recommend Victoria Lamb stuff, her weapons are smaller and scale well with these guys. These are the rifles I used for example. http://victoriaminiatures.highwire.com/product/5-laser-rifles They slot right into the WWII Soviet's hands like they were made for them after you shave a couple MM's off the stock.

Best part is it's actually cheaper to build using these guys for the most part. The only expensive part is finding heavy weapons. If you're just building riflemen and the odd special weapon, these guys are cheaper than GW.

I was going to say Warlord soviets, but since that was covered you could try Meridian Miniatures line of steampunk Prussians.

14 UKP for 5 and several head options (or get heads from somewhere else).

I'd recommend Vic Minis. They're fairly expensive, but you're paying for what you get. Probably the crispest casts I've ever dealt with, fully modular, and works with GW kits and other 28mm heroic kits.

I just bought 200 Death Korp of Krieg infantry, including heavy weapon teams, and special weapons.

Now is a good time to buy, the dollar is up, and the GBP is down. I got them while the gettin was good.
