Should I take my baneblades, shadowswords, stormlords, warhounds, and other super heavies into apocalypse games, or should I leave them on the shelf.

They were originally made exclusively for apoc

Yeah, but do you still think they hold any value in them?

They hold more value relative to the other "non apoc" units as they are designed with Apoc in mind.

The larger table sizes, larger number of units etc makes them useful in that many Apoc units can drop larger templates, throw bullets farther, or just generally throw shots around them in large numbers.

A Leman Russ can engage a single target. A Baneblade can fire its weapons independently at at least 7 targets (2 TL HB sponson, 2 Lascannon sponson turrets, Main Turret gunwith its coaxial, hull Demolisher, hull TL HB turret) or even more if you add pintle mounts, Hunter killer missiles or another set of sponsons.

That and Apoc weapons jump a degree in power with D ST and the bigger the unit often has a lot of D attacks like Titans. The idea being this giant expensive (points and $) monster is going to remove a lot of things from the table.

After all, they were built FOR APOC

"SIR! Are you sure this will work!?"
"I HAVE NO IDEA, PULL THE TRIGGER!!!" 91st comms chatter.

Hahaha, its funny because the new stormbird literally costs more $$ than points (costs around $1000 for 850 points). Alright, thanks for the input Engine of War.

I'll echo the range sentiment; while the leman russ can reach 72", that's *only* 3 tiles, which on the scale of apocalypse - typically double or triple that, is piddly. If your opponents are organised to attack a weak point, or worse yet, manage to roll up a flank, the whole of your side needs to respond with force.

This is where the Shadowsword and some of the titans truly shine - not necessarily in direct confrontation but in eliminating key elements that thought themselves secure from immediate threat.

That's not to say all Apoc spec units are equally valuable - far from it. The non AP1/2 and non Ignores Cover Baneblade variants just aren't very good unless you're transporting something funny. Titan loadouts suffer the same, though less so.

Some people find the idea that other people can be happy offensive, and will prefer causing harm to self improvement.
