So a situation came up the other day in which my Catacomb Command Barge charged a unit that had 3 of the Cult Mech Robots with flamers. He ended up with a rule that gave him an auto 3 hits with all flamers for wall of death, which would normally mean 9 hits, however because it was a chariot, we had no clue how to resolve this at all. I know normally a template automatically goes against the Chariot, then the dude in top takes d6 hits from the flamer due to being open topped. I also know normally Chariots generate a hit pool, and that templates and blast auto hit the chariot, and anything else I chose. I would assume wall of death is treated as a template weapon, so it would hit the chariot. Does this mean it also generates that many "No Escape" rolls as well?
When it came up, my opponent and I couldn't decide in any way possible so we just did 3d6 hits against the rider: One per flamer. How should we have resolved this? Would he have gotten a full 9d6 like it sounds like he should?

You don't use No Escape on chariots because they aren't a transport vehicle.

Pretty much. Riders are not separate units Embarked on to Chariots any more. Indeed, a Chariot and his Rider are always treated as a single model even though two profiles are present.

Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound?

He's probably talking about the cognis heavy-flamer. Which automatically gets 3 hits on overwatch.

Oh is that so? Sweet. Keeps my rider alive even longer then. Good to know.

It was a special rule for Cult Mech that gave him an automatic 3 hits. As post above said: Cognis Heavy-flamer.
