Hi all. Ive been painting minis since 2005 and I know several tricks of the trade. However, i cant seem to get the fine lines and details i desire on small miniatures, say.. my gretchin. Any words of advise for painting details at that level?

Use a fine detail brush, even if a large brush has a good point it's harder to be consistent with a larger brush.

And use flow improver and drying retarder to help the paint flow off the brush and reduce clumping.

The best way to paint tiny details is to buy magnifying glasses, its really worth it. Even when painting normal figures!

I dont have any vision problems at all but when using magnifying glasses your eyes wont have to strain as much so its more comfortable to paint.

It warms my heart to hear this approach. I can confirm

I would like to add that in addition to the rested wrists/arms, try to use everything on the lowest distance you can manage.
Rest your wrists instead of just elbows, hold the brush as near the tip as possible etc.

Actually... when I think about it I almost always work with my elbows firmly planted on my desk(sometimes thighs), then lead both wrists in on each other so they further stabilize.

At least how I do precision work.

Decent fine brushes are half the work. Also not clogging up the mini with a base paint helps a lot.
