Once again I turn to the Dakkasphere for help sourcing minis for obscure projects! This time, Mass Effect.

Seeing as it's criminal that ME doesn't already have a dedicated game and minis range (seriously, it'd be amazing!), I've decided I want to put together a loose collection that at least covers the principal characters of the series. So far, I've found suitable models to be converted up as Shepard, Tali and Garrus, all from the Infinity range, but past that I'm hitting a brick wall.

Ideally, I'd like to find suitable bases for converting into Liara, Ashley, Thane, Legion and Grunt, with Miranda, Mordin and Jack as secondary concerns (pics below for the unfamiliar), and having had a good rummage through the Infinity range I've not come across much. I don't need them to be 100% accurate, just good enough that with a bit of converting and an appropriate paintjob they'll be recognisable. The Krogan are the ones I'm having a hard time coming up with anything at all for, so any ideas are most welcome!

There are some Krogan for sale on shapeways, their crazy expensive tho.

There's a company that makes a 28mm scale "Hero of the Galaxy" that's remarkably similar to ME's Shephard (male and female versions).

Have you checked some of the other sci-fi manufacturers? I'm not sure if Beyond the Gates of Antares or some of Anvil Industry's stuff might help.

Ooh, good shout on Antares, hadn't really looked at that range but the Algoryn have some serious potential. With helmets on and a few alterations to the lower legs they'd make great Turians, and the all-female Infiltration squad would make a nice unit of Asari commandos.

Anvil's Afterlife has some guys that might make nice Alliance troops with more sci-fi guns swapped in, but I think Infinity and the odd Mantic mini would do a better job there. I'm going to try and put together some Geth from Necrons at some point, and both halves of Sedition Wars are pretty much made to be used as Cerberus and Reaper forces with the right paintjob, so in theory I've got viable minis for most of the major factions now, just the Krogan and Collectors that I can't really think of anything for (aside from 3d printing which I'm not convinced is up to scratch next). Plenty to be doing in the mean time, though!
