Hi there,

So basically I'm new to the forum (not sure if this is the right place to ask these questions) and have come back to the hobby after nearly 10 years.

Been thinking of starting a couple of different armies for 40k and came across the Minotaurs chapter. They seem really cool but they look like they'll need a lot of modification to make them look legit. Is this the case? Would it be better to come to them when I'm more experienced again?

Also there seems to be a lot of Forge World material for them. Do I need all of this AND/OR the standard Space Marine codex?

Thanks for your help and sorry if this isn't the right section.

not really your question (as I don't know too much about the Minotaurs) but if I were to make an army with the aesthetic theme they run with, I'd personally mix in some Spartans from the Scibor range, maybe as veterans.

Welcome to Dakka and back to 40k.

FW has the rules for them free to download. So those and a basic marine codex should be all you need to play them. Obviously, if you want the fluff/background/etc. you might want to pick up the actual FW book(s?). I’m not a big FW guy, so don’t know exactly which ones showcase them. Badab is the main one IIRC.

From a modeling POV, there are a ton of 3rd party bits makers out there if you don’t want to get FW bits.

Forge World makes a few things for Minotaurs, and they are a good marine force if you like Forgeworld, because playing a 'forgeworld' chapter is going to give you lots of excuses to use all the cool forgeworld toys.

Forgeworld makes a special dreadnought, and two characters for the Minotaurs, and sells all sorts of upgrade kits for them too.

As stated above, there are tons of different 3rd party manufacturers that you can use too.

Happy wargaming!

Not a Minotaur player, but I can comment. They have an army list and some cool fluff in IA12: The Fall of Orpheus from FW. This book allows you to run the special characters from the FW website. For this list you will need the vanilla SM codex.

Welcome. Minotaurs, for when loyalist chapters need some fratricide at the behest of the High Lords of Terra. Nice Forgeworld minis as well. Other than that I don't know a great deal about them but best of luck with your Spartan marines.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.
