Title pretty much says it all. I'm wondering if anyone on Dakka plays any old-school collectible card games that are no longer in production or supported. I collect and play Decipher's old Star Wars CCG, as well as their Lord of the Rings TCG. Those games were both brilliant and have provided me and my brother plenty of hours of late-night entertainment. I've even introduced a few of my friends to the Lord of the Rings one, although that was mostly back when it was still being made. I didn't even collect the Star Wars cards until well after the end of its production run (got a bunch of the cards for cheap on eBay and various online game retailers). I did the same with Decipher's Star Trek CCG (1st edition), but I gave that collection to my brother, who has introduced it to a couple of his friends. I also gave my collection of Stargate TCG cards to my brother, although to my knowledge he hasn't touched them despite the fact that he's a huge Stargate fan. I'm also sitting on a small collection of cards from the EVE CCG (yes, there was a short-lived card game based on EVE Online!) and some from Decipher's WARS CCG (the gameplay was based heavily on the Star Wars game but it never took off), but I've never actually played either one (the cards are cool though).

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

I still play Mythos CCG on occasion, nearly 20 years old but has stood the test of time extremely well. Pleased that i bought a healthy number of boosters etc at the time.

I’ve got shelves full of boxes, but it’s been forever since I played any of them.

I think Shadowfist is my favorite obscure old game.

I also love the LotR CCG, it's really fun, and my friends play it regularly on a Monday night.
The old World of Darkness ccgs are also very much good fun, especially Werewolf/Rage.

I don’t recall Rage! being any good. Played a lot of Jyhad/V:tES though. It’s main problem was that you needed ~5+ players for a decent game.

I still have hundreds of Spellfire: Master the Magic cards, but haven't played in years. I may dig them out for when I go to visit my brother over Xmas.

Rage! was okay. Definitely not Jyhad level. I was excited when it got picked up for more cards as V:tES. It is definitely better for bigger groups; groups that don't mind all kinds of treachery!

I'd love to ve able to play Middle Earth: The Wizards again. When I was in college, it was already on the end of it's run, and I bought a booster case of the main set for just under $100. I sold a few boxes to friends, and we played a lot of it.

Having seen the boxed deck building games that have come out recently, I fully concede that it was a terrible game to make collectible, but for all of it's fiddliness it really captures the spirit of exploring middle earth.

I started collecting the Call of Cthulhu LCG earlier this year. The Cthulhu mythos was always a minor interest of mine, I've read Lovecraft's stories here and there over the years, but developed a deep interest in January. Bought an anthology of H.P. Lovecraft, and now I can't get enough of it. I'm looking to expand out to the board games as well as the RPG. There is a lack of interest in my circle of friends though, thats pretty much the only thing holding me back from throwing my money around like a maniac.

I will forever remain humble because I know I could have less.
I will always be grateful because I remember I've had less.

I have a few boxes of the Battletech CCG and play it occasionally. It still holds up.
