Hi all

As I wrote in another thread, I have recently taken an interest in 40k. A few days ago I bought the Blood Angels-part of the Shield of Baal Deathstorm box since I got it very cheap. However, after reading more about the different armies my heart is drawn towards Deathwatch instead...is it possible to convert my Blood Angels to Deathwatch in some manner, and then start buying Deathwatch models from now on? They don't have to be 100%, I'll never participate in any major painting or gaming competitions, but I do of course want to have a good looking, somewhat fluff-correct army.

The pack consists of one dreadnaught, one captain (special character), 5 terminators and 5 death company marines.

Yes you can convert them, the only thing that really changes for the Deathwatch is the left shoulder pad is a Deathwatch pad, and you can get the Deathwatch sprue or bitz on eBay for fairly cheap. Just on of the Deathwatch sprues should cover all those models.

Other then that, just paint them black with a silver left arm and pad, and you have your Deathwatch army started.

It would, however, be most unusual to have more than one marine from each chapter in most forces given that there are 1000 or so Chapters putting their battle brothers for service. At a push you might argue a few, but the full number of models listed as Blood Angels in the Deathwatch together wouldn't be particularly fluffy.

You could always say that some are actual Blood Angels, and make others successor chapters (Knights of Blood, Flesh Tearers, Lamenters, etc). I like to run a DW Aquila team made up of all Dark Angels and successor chapters. Adds another layer to the "DA are still a legion" theme, and all of Sanguinus' blood share the DC and such, so using their iconography on "non-blood Angel" Blood Angel guys works.

Yes and no. Many of the Successors eschew obvious BA iconography like winged blood drops (particularly the 3 you've highlighted; of which the Knights of Blood have been excoommunicated by the High Lords of Terra and so probably wouldn't be popping up in an Inquisition affiliated force like the Deathwatch and the Lamenters are still on their Badab related penitent crusade with perhaps fewer than 200 battle brothers remaining, again, unlikely to be in the Deathwatch).

Allowing for the parts in the Death Company box you could do a Blood Drinker (chalice Chapter symbol) and an Angel Encarmine (blood drop with bat wings, one of the winged bllod drop pads looks kind of similar). The others' chapter symbols would have to be done freehand.

it would still be unusual to have such a density of successors with the same parent-chapter.

Luckily the Terminators in Deathstorm were generic. Unluckily, the Furioso Dreadnought has no loadout that is legal on a Deathwatch Dreadnought.

Merrlin, you might be better off trading or selling your BA and acquring some Deathwatch or something easier to turn into Deathwatch.
