With the new Split rule, I repainted some of my Pink Horrors as Blue and made some Brimstone Horrors out of Dyrad heads:

That is extremely cool!

Great idea on the dryad heads. They really pop as well due to the painting.

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Yes, the dryad heads idea is great. I can understand painting your pink horrors blue, but honestly...

...Just stop. You'll kick yourself when they just release the plastic boxes. It must be soon. That Lord of Change was finished in march and they still haven't released it, it's past due at this point, and I'm sure that once that thing gets released, those plastic boxes will, too.

Just use the older rules for Pink Horrors until then. That's what I'm doing. (and I know it hurts but just hang in there)

Are you still converting them now, when the new kit has been released then?

I really like the look of these, even now when the official kit has been released. If you want to get hordes of brims this might be a good solution without paying for 10 blues every time?

I happen to have some dryad heads lying around which helps... I'd quite like to know how you did the fire too!

No I am not converting them anymore. I sold these and got 2 boxes of the new Blue/Brims.
I had the Lizardmen/Dryad conversions for years and only repainted them when the Split rule came out.
I did about 12 Brimstone conversions just as a stop-gap to use in games until the set came out

Now that the set is out, I found a cool way to maximize the model count. I painted a few Brimstones Pink and Blue as well as cutting a few Brim pairs into singles.
Out of 20 pairs, I actually got 24 bases by splitting 4 pairs up. When mixed into a unit with the proper pairs, you hardly notice that some are singles.
I painted 2 Pink and 4 Blue so they can be fillers for any Pinks or Blues I need, and then they can be reused as Brims if I run out of yellow/orange ones.

I can't separate the link for some reason, but if you scroll past the hounds, you'll see my new Horrors:

Thanks for that! Your multi-purpose way of painting them way of painting them certainly makes sense!

I'd not thought of splitting them up - I might do that with a few if I get another set... Not really wanting to make the investment til 8th drops though as we have no idea how that'll change things.

I've already made a few up based on your dryad design and I'm pretty pleased with the way they look I think I'll just mix them in with the standard ones on the tabletop.

I like your lord of change too - got a fairly similar-looking conversion sitting half-done on my desk... It's interesting to see how different people do daemons on a reasonable budget

Sadly though, I made those LoCs weeks before the new one was announced. They are way too small. I had to sell them as Daemon Princes instead.

I recently got the new LoC and it is 2x bigger. I am modeling it as a dual use LoC or Magnus. Or rather using Magnus's rules to represent a more powerful LoC similar to the Forge World LoC character.
I will call him "Sungam the Magenta" or some other play on Magnus's name

I'm surprised you just sold them after the time and effort you put in to convert those guys! The new lord of change model is really good, though, I admit that.

Surely most people wouldn't mind about playing a smaller LoC - particularly a well converted one? Even at tournies you could just say 'assume you can get line of sight' if the height makes a difference.

Well it also had to do with not being able to make a list I was happy with that included both LoCs and FW. And since I knew I wanted the new LoC and had no desire to take multiple Tz DPs, I just didn't want them collecting dust when I could get something out of them (and someone else could use them)

I basically "traded" both LoCs and the Horrors I had to get 2 boxes of the new Horrors and 1 LoC.
I also really enjoy painting, so I never consider selling models as 'wasted time and effort' (plus I tend to get twice as much for painted minis)

Stay tuned as I will have some pics up hopefully by this weekend of my new LoC.
