In 40K there's Arbites (as in Adeptus Arbites, the Judge Dredd guys).

Arbite and Arbirater? Are you looking for words like Arbiter and Arbitrator maybe? Both mean pretty much the same, a guy who examines facts and comes to a conclusion, but the former does it on his own while the latter is asked to do so by the interested parties.

Arbitrator is one of the ranks in the 40K Arbites though, the guys that mostly get to handle long trials instead of Dredding it on the streets.

Yes, they're the same thing. The spelling just flipflops depending on the writer.

'Arbites' refers to the organisation, Arbitrator is the individual and technically the correct spelling.

If I remember my Outlanders supplement from Necromunda correctly, the right spelling is technically 'I'll-be-a-traitor'.
