I think profane zeal is a fluffy rule for WB, but Dark Apostles suck and possessed suck so they're not in a good place by comparison to the other legions.
Allowing dark apostles or your warlord to gain aoe zealot, instead of just a dark apostle would be a big improvement to their legion.

With Warlord traits you could now have a lord with mastery level 1 that can actually move around. You could even give him the malefic tome for quasi mastery 2.
That seems like a damn good proxxy for what dark apostles really should be. Would make for some glorious conversions too.
What do you guys think?

Honestly, I would just allow Warpsmiths and Apostles to take Special Issue Wargear and Mounts like the Lord and Sorcerer can. Nice and simple.

Optionally, allow the Daemon Prince those options too, just for more options besides Wings. Granted, a Bike Daemon Prince would be hilarious on the table...

Did someone say Doomrider?

Maybe that someone did.

Making Malefic a flat 3+ to harness WC, rather than Conjurations-only would also have been nice. That, and/or some means to discard wounds from Perils. Ah well, at least Nurgle has a boss discipline now so taking a Palanquin isn't as painful.

Agree with the first post. Once you give them steeds and Packs/Bikes, they suddenly make more sense.

Could just be a parallel fix make the Possessed more viable? I remember the rule proposed here time ago, probably by Vaktathi.

The one that proposed to merge the CSM and Crimson Slaughter possessed effects, and then the player chooses each turn the effect Obliterator-style.

EDIT: corrected spelling, sorry Vaktathi

Generic characters disappearing? Elite units of your army losing options and customizations? No longer finding that motivation to convert?
Your army could suffer Post-Chapterhouse Stress Disorder (PCSD)! If you think that your army is suffering one or more of the aforementioned symptoms, call us at 789-666-1982 for a quick diagnosis!

My proposition was to bump them up by a couple points and they would have 2 wounds.

I agree with most proposals here to some degree or another, but I went with the warlord thing because It thought it was the least intrusive change that would still have quite an effect.
The kind of unintrusive that they could easily faq in...for christmas...if we ask very nicely...maybe lol.
The other changes would require a new datasheet, aka a next codex update kind of thing.

Oh, if you push for official, forget it. They just give up and add "fixes" with formations.

If 8th edition goes the way I think it will go, is time for the player base to create its own 40k.

@Slayer-Fan123: I agree. it would diversify them. What about both changes

I'd say redo Profane Zeal as follows:

"A Word Bearers Dark Apostle has the Daemon USR, as does any unit composed entirely of Word Bearers that is joined by a Dark Apostle. Any Word Bearers unit comprised entirely of Daemons adds up to +3" to move, run, and charge distances."

This makes the Dark Apostle a mini-Talisman/shieldbuffer, but also prevents such units from benefitting from the Talisman of Burning Blood. Comedic, no?
