This should be pretty good, if the trailer and the first 2 movies are any indication.

Yeah, this is going from strength to strength for a series of movies. I'm excited for this. It was always the part I was so confused by in the original movies/story lines. They've done a solid job showing how it could have happened so far.

Looks great. The series has been an excellent dissection of identity, humanity, and conflict.

When the trailer for the last one came out, I was like oh man I should watch the last one then go see this. Now I am like, oh man I should watch the last two and then go see this. Looks great, I need to get on the ball.

Ten posts happy, one post upset. Huh. Clearly there is call for it. Deal with it. The new PotA movies have been awesome so far. Can't wait!

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Who has read the original books? I mean the French author's books that were used for the original films with Charlton Heston and so on.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

Indeed, they're both very good.

It is going to require a massive suspension of disbelief that apes, while intelligent, will be able to defeat a coordinated military force with Hi-tech equipment
Also, paused at 1:47, is that an gorilla helping the humans?

You haven't seen the previous movies as it's already well covered. The apes are created from a drug that enhances their mental abilities to human level (and beyond in the case of their leader Caesar) It's also what grants the later generations of apes the ability to speak and an even higher level of intelligence. The drug doesn't fully take hold on 1st generation apes as they are fully developed, they get smarter but it's their children that it has a much more profound impact on. Give them intelligence comparable to humans and the fact they are 6-8 times as strong as the average adult man and they'd pose a threat. Most of the apes chose not use guns for moral reasons (being barbaric human devices), but they are quite capable of using firearms and military equipment that they've captured. The human population has also crashed to near extinction levels due to the ape flu virus.

The apes are not a single faction, there is infighting between those that want war with humans and those that prefer a more peaceful route. There's several apes, an orangutan and gorillas that have worked with humans. The surviving groups of humans are also at odds with each other.

Don't dismiss the movies until you've watched them they are much more creative and thought out than most people would expect.

I have watched both movies. Dont patronize me. Infact Dawn made me cry in several placed, such as when Dreyfus looked at his ipad or when Ceaser was in his home.
Still doesnt mean that apes could beat a well orginized military force. The beat the survivors because they got a tank and sheer numbers. if we assume this takes place not too long after the battle of san francisco, the apes will be weakened from loss of numbers
But an actual orginized military force would be difficult.
Ifs like the Aztecs Vs. the Spaniairds.

That's probably too drastic of a model as the Aztec's had very little to defeat the Spanish armor, even if Aztec's managed to capture enemy arms they were clueless in how to use it. I think a far more apt comparison would be conflicts from Vietnam, you have native guerilla forces defending in heavy forests fighting against a foe that may have better technology but lack the ability to bring numbers. At the end of Rise Caesar says how precarious their situation is and that the division of the apes and the resulting loses would likely see their end in the coming war. He's of a tactical mind so I'd imagine that he works on a plan to work around their disadvantages rather than just throwing ape bodies at the wall.

From what's shown in the trailer he's captured and about to be executed so it's fairly easy to assume he's rescued by other forces, likely the human group that he's established trust with. There's clearly two human groups fighting, the ones in the helicopters and the ones manning the machine guns (with the gorilla helping them) They've done well with showing that the apes are cunning and that's what allows them (eventually) to become the new masters of the world, I expect that they'll continue with that route rather than just going bang apes magically win ::handwave & smoke effects::

Which apes are 6-8 times stronger than an average adult man? Is that a movie thing from the series that I missed? Because there are some serious differences in the apes... like, are we talking a gorilla that outweighs a person significantly?

Real world thing, the arm strength on male chimps has been measured at 6-7 times that of an average human male. Because they spend much of their time in trees and on their hands while walking they have an incredible amount of upper body strength. The rest of their muscle structure (like their legs) is about twice the strength of a human on a pound for pound basis.

In addition to be incredibly strong when they attack people or other chimps they tend to rip off the fingers and go for the flesh on the face making them particularly brutal.

As a hard-core fan of the originals, I've been pleasantly surprised with the remakes so far. In all likelyhood, I'll see this one too.
