So... if I want to play a competitive list and don't care about making friends, how's this look?

Um, you have no way to deal with horde lists. A list with 100+ of any kind of models will ruin your day, especially if they are Fearless. Stomps can be great to thin down units, but you shouldn't rely on them.

You would be much better off dropping 1 WK to put Scatter lasers on the rest of the WK and the Bikes. I would then add more Scatterbikes to one of the units with any left-over points

And at least 1 WK needs to have Glaive & Shield to counter Deathstars

To be honest I was pretty lazy with writing that. I'd agree with your analysis, and if you're going to put a scattershield on a WK or two, may as well pair it with a suncannon to further mitigate the horde problem - I don't see much value in the glaive, comparatively.

Here's a revised version with 20 more scatterlasers.

Suncannons don't exist in competitve 7th ed, Just check like every competitive Eldar list from 2015 onward. I would be surprised if you found a list with a Suncannon WK in it. Almost every Eldar player considers the Suncannon WK to be the absolute worse of the 5 loadouts (including the FW ones). It's still a WK, so it's good, but the other are much better

Plenty of Deathstars exist that can only be dealt with in CC. They can be aggressive in a way that the others cannot
The Glaive is considered by many, MANY players to be the best WK loadout.
I am partial to the Skathach Inferno Lance WK myself, but the CC D and 5++ is very good.

I would do your 2nd list, but do 3 wraithcannon WKs, and 1 Glaive/Shield WK.
If you are willing to get a Skathach WK, you could do 1 with the Deathshroud templates for horde control.

The best combo of WKs IMO would be 1 Wraithcannons, 1 Inferno lances, 1 Glaive/Shield & 1 Deathshouds.
The other cool thing about the Skathach WKs is that you can trade 1 gun for a Shield

+1 to Galef's suggestions. Suncannon wraithknights are pretty sub-par. Scathach Wraithknights are incredibly good.

I'm not as familiar with the new forge world stufff (newly returned to playing) so I'll need to look up the stats - you guys clearly have more competitive 7th ed. experience than I do.

If I were to take your advice on the aforementioned changes, would the resulting list be extremely competitive? (By this I mean, almost certainly win a smaller local tourney and at definitely fare well in a larger regional one? (Assuming it's played properly)

I played a 'friendly' game against a Tau opponent yesterday and got so badly smashed it wasn't even a fun match... admittedly, I was playing a fluffy Iyanden list, but if a 'friendly' Tau list in 7th ed can deal 6 woulds to Wraithlords, Tak 5 HPs off Wave Serpents (with holo-fields) and wipe a squad of 6 wraithguard all in 1 turn of shooting, then I need to recalibrate my idea of competitive for 7th ed.

7th Ed is clearly a pretty "shooty" edition of 40k, and Tau are clearly the (or at least one of) best 'dex in the current edition. Are there any rumors on what's coming next.... I'd love to see a return to something more balanced.

Thanks for the input guys.

I'd give the list more variety to deal with all threats and all threat ranges.
This is easier to say than to achieve.
My favorite Eldar unit is still the Seer Council, these days on jetbikes, followed by Warwalkers.

What was his "friendly" list?

Putting Scatter Lasers on bikes is always a good idea, as is playing at least a couple of Warp Spider squads to fight infantry.

the Bloodofkittens website has a list of all the tournament lists that placed well at major tournaments during 7th edition. Eldar lists consistently place in the top 3 at tournaments, so you should have some good examples for some hard-hitting lists there. I'd suggest checking it out!

His "Friendly List" came in two parts:

4 x 10 Fire Warriors
2x 4 Pathfinders
1x Hammerhead (The named special char)
2x Broadsides
1x Etheral (Invocation of Elements/Storm of Fire)
1x Tetra Scout Speeder (Making the retaliation cadre retardedly effective)

+ Retaliation Cadre:

5x Crisis Suit (2 PR) accompanied by Buffmander
4x Crisis Suit (2 FB)
3x Crisis Suit (2 MP)
1x Riptide
1x Broadside

I'm not a good arbiter of what makes a friendly list, but friendly or not, he wiped me out real good. Is the Tau 'dex just that strong?

Edited to include the 3rd broadside I forgot about.

Well as far as tau go...no double stormsurge, no Triptide, no Supremacy Armor,,,,yeah it is fairly tame for tau.
