Okay i'm looking over the older codex for the IG and was wondering about the Infantry Platoon, it says

Composition 1 platoon command squad, 2-5 infantry squads, 0-5 Heavy weapons squads, 0-2 Special Weapons squads and 0-1 conscripts squad

now is all that just one troop choice on the force organisation chart?

Yes, an entire Platoon only takes up a single FOC slot.

no kidding feel like it can get pricey building a company of them.

Not that pricey...you can have tanks/arty/ ogryns etc, well kinda pricy

Don't forget the Dedicated Transports for the Command and Infantry Squads. Admittedly, compared to all the models can already drop in that Slot it is small, but 6 Vehicle units for one CAD slot is not bad.

yeah making my company a motorized company so Chimeras all around for them, except for the heavy weapons teams and special weapons teams and so on, which bites.

If you want to go "motorized", why are you even looking at the platoon? Just take vets in chimaeras and put the heavy weapons on your battle tanks.

Even if you want to play a bulk infantry army, just taking 5x 10 veterans in chimaeras is only 50 points more costly than taking 50 standard-guard and 5 chimaeras. Also, special weapons do belong into the hands of vets anyways. Just forget the special weapons squad!
