Greatings all

Im still in need of help getting started with Mechanicum.

Since the models are rather expensive i would like to get started on the right foot right away.
This is why i would like to get some help starting.

I tried searching but my Google-Fu skills are not up to par.

Im wondering if someone out there have an idee of a armylist of 500p, 1000p and even perhaps 1.5k lists.
It the start that is bothering me. Later on ill see what is missing and compensate for that and knowing myself ill
probably buy more models then i need in the long run.

But, right now im in need for the 500, 1000 and 1500p armylist help, anyone out there that might take pity ?

I would say that the first step is to pick a flavour of Mechanicum that you like.

Taghmata Omnissiah is the basic mechanicum. They have the most options and no negatives, but they don't really have any positives either.

Ordo Reductor are the siege mechanicum. They lose tons of options for compulsory troops but gain access to a couple more good ones, including basically a DIY tank unit and heavy artillery. They also gain some very good benefits related to the battlefield. Their cons are that they're stuck with much fewer options for compulsory troops and don't have good access to as many of the Mechanicum's premier war engines: the Automata.

Legio Cybernetica, conversely, specialize in the best Mechanicum war engines; they buff Automata in their detachment both directly and indirectly as well as being permitted to take Automata as the compulsory troops choices unlike all the other Mechanicum factions. However, Automata are not scoring, making Cybernetica armies rely on other troops if they wish to score, and Automata are hugely expensive, so taking a ton of them (as this list forces you to do with its restrictions) really chokes off other options.

For what it's worth, I have tried all 3.

1) Taghmata are the most flexible but lack endurance compared to Cybernetica and hitting power compared to Reductor.

2) Cybernetica are phenomenally durable and possess firepower to rival any faction in the Heresy, but are correspondingly expensive and has trouble scoring. If you wipe out your opponent, this isn't so crippling, and Automata can still contest objectives if you can get near. However, Cybernetica is also very slow, with most units limited to 6" a turn or so.

3) Ordo Reductor is fast and hits very hard, specializing in tanks and heavy guns. However, it's more fragile than cybernetica and less flexible than Taghmata; most people can guess that an Ordo Reductor army will bring tanks, and the tanks are not nearly as durable against enemy firepower as the Automata, making it comparatively fragile (as I mentioned before). That said, Reductor also possesses such overwhelming firepower that they can level most credible threats in two shooting phases, and only the durability of Cybernetica automata or Flare-Shielded AV14 can endure their attentions for long.

I have some experience with Ordo Reductor at 1000 points.

Thallax are quite mobile, but don't have tremendous firepower. It will take them a while to whittle a unit of marines down, even with phased plasma fusils. They are quite vulnerable to heavy bolters or the heavy volkite weapons. You will want to use them to seize objectives and harass enemy units, but always jet pack move them out of sight.
Large marine squads can push them off objectives with weight of fire alone.

Myrmadons put out frightening amounts of firepower, but are very costly. Once they wipe a squad of marines they will attract lots of hostile fire.

Ursarax are good against basic marines, but keep them away from dedicated CC units and World Eaters chain axes. They also mulch Shooty dreads and vehicles with those S10 fists.

Krios Venators are roughly equivalent to Lascannon Predators or Las-array Vindicators. A good support unit, but not a line breaker. That job is for your Macrocarid.

Macrocarids can be flare shielded, and have ceremite, so they are very tough to kill. Two Rad engines and a grav cannon will erase infantry of all types.

Ordo Reductor artillery tanks are very mobile, and pack a punch, but are very fragile. Units of three Medusas are almost too good, especially when firing indirectly via cyber occularis.
