So with the new Imperial Agents book, Legion of the Damned got a new Detachment that's quite good.

Spoiler:

Being able to pick Reserve arrival time is insane. Better than auto coming in on 2, because you can choose to hold back and come in when the timing is right.

How would you utilize this detachment? I'm thinking 3 Knights with Legionnaires is sturdy enough to survive until the timing is right to come in, though fitting them in to Battle Company is probably a thing as well.

Annoying.... I've got LoD with missile lauchers & combi grav sarges now i'll have to remodel..
as to tactics i'm liking the look of no roll reserves which is nice. I'm thinking max melta and drop for anti tank/artillary use and a squad or to with flamers for hoard control. Ha tau will hate these even more now.

Oddly enough it looks like the Sergeant lost acess to combi-weapons also

The reduction of options is a bit harsh.

MM/M is probably the best option.

Even with the re-roll, I’m wary of DSing flamer templates. And the HF seems a hair redundant with ignore cover anyway. It would be one thing if they were more mobile, or had 100% accuracy on the DS. But I don’t think they are going to be able to get optimal positioning on the template.

The sarge has a statline that could get some milage out of some CC toys, but the squad should be shooting. Going axe/bolt pistol might not be a bad idea. He’s got the 3++, so I’m less worried about the unwieldy as I normally am. And it would help him carve their way out of CC. Not sure if it’s worth the points though.

It says he can take weapons from the range weapon list.

This is the new C:IA LotD, and the list they are referring to is pretty spartan. Boltgun (already have one) Strombolter (on a S&P unit) and plasma pistol (overpriced as always).

Pretty crappy overall for options.

Hmm, that's stupid. No more Combi-Grav.

I suppose Plasma Gun and Multi-Melta will be the default option at 150 for a squad that comes in whenever after T2. That's not too bad I guess. They're anti-grav and can tarpit Dread Knights and Riptides and such.

No? I mean, they're T4, have pretty limited weapon options, and they're 25ppm. Taking a minimal squad with two special weapons will cost around 145 points, and they're still really vulnerable to getting gunned down by - Well, by anything, really.

They've been doing that for a long time, this only allows them to choose which turn to come in on. Which is a great boost, don't get me wrong, but they're not quite OP.

If they don't pull the LOTD codex, you can probably continue to use that instead as the GW team haven't updated the blurb on the codex sales page to reflect Imperial agents, where sisters and inquisition codex have an announcement on them. Would make some sense, as the LOTD codex has warlord traits and a relic. So for those running weapon options that the Imperial Agents codex no longer has, you might be able to continue using the LOTD codex detachment, no getting to pick when you come in though.

In any case, yeah LOTD are good. I use 4 squads of 5 and really like them, ignore cover is pretty legit. The 3++ and re-roll on DS scatter is solid as well.

It's not broken. All it does is let you take 3+ against ap3 or better weapons. Against ap4 or worse you die just as fast as other space marine but LotD cost twice as much per wound

Yup, they are very similar to thousand sons in that sense, paying a premium for an invuln. save they'll likely never use in most cases since people will just drown them in mass anti-infantry fire. Though the LotD have more utility with ignores cover on their weapons and having more mobility+options.
