Dark Angels Librarian with Book of Secrets

Going to be allying in some DA for my Imperial Guard and curious what the best load out for them is. I'm thinking of sticking a Librarian with them (for Divination), then a couple Bullgryns with Slab shields for cover and the rest with the Beat sticks? Or is the best loadout the shooty version?

Skip Ogrens. Not worth their point costs. Unless you just want them for the fun of it, if so, go for it.

If you take a DA ally, use them for what they are good for. Take a Termie command squad, give them the apothecary, and whatnots, plus a librarian. Use their troops with a drop pod and use their fast attack options, such as their bikes to assist your gunline guardsmen.

The termie squad will only be a bit more than the ogren squad and be much more survivable and hard hitting, with more options. And if you really want to be a jerk, give the termie squad two or three Imperial Guard priests. Suddenly, your termies with feel no pain have zealot, rerolls to hit, wound and rerolls to any of your armor saves. Add it some psyker meaness from the librarian for a whole host of synergy.

Be aware, if you do this, people probably won't like you.

The Wyvern loadout. Leave them in the box and spend the points on the aforementioned.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

If you're going for Ogryns because you love them (I do), Bullgryns with Slabshields are by far the most effective because they are essentially walking cover (Combine with Camo Netting for optimum fun).

Note the word 'fun'. Any kind of Ogryn are a lot of fun to play, and can be used well by skilled players in competitive lists (Not that I mean to insult your IG tactical ability, but yeah) however they are generally far from competitive. If you want to win your points back, go for the Terminators.

P.S. Please play Bullgryns at some point, mine are ever so lonely.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

Bullgryns: 2 siege shields, 1 power maul bonehead (who is also warlord if you want to be crazy).

This lets you get the most variety out of the kit (both rules and model-wise).

Honestly you are better off using your DA to buff 50 man blobs rather than ogryns. Divination is awesome for gard units (particularly the rending option) combined with your no cover order and thats a lot of rending lasguns. 4++ saves are great for big blobs too.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.
